N/S Bucs lose WR Chris Godwin for the season (1 Viewer)

Bowles said that Chris wanted to stay in the game. It’s a decision where you honor the player, but something very unfortunate happened. Now they both have to live with the decision

If he doesn’t get injured, they only need one more completion to be to kick the field goal and try the onsides kick. Who here hasn’t in their football lives seen games that get crazy and flip result in the end because the team that was down played out the end-game better than the team that was up?

Most sports have an end-game. As long as you are within a certain scenario based on time and point differential, you keep trying. That’s the essence of competition.

Certainly if there wasn’t a reasonable end-game scenario for them, yeah it would be something to criticize - but down 10 points with a minute left and you’re moving the ball practically at-will means you play it out.

Man, that sucks for Godwin. He’s one of my favorite WR’s and he had a tough season last year coming back from the ACL injury and now this injury hits him.

Mike Evans also may have torn his hamstring.

Hate to see anyone get hurt, but welcome to our world, Tampa.

To catch up with us, they still need to lose the starting CB, starting WLB, starting Safety, starting RG and LG and Center, Both starting Wr’s, starting (FB/Rb/Te) oh, and did I mention QB?

I still can’t believe how injured we are.

Why? It was a freak injury. They were down 10 and that play was moving them into scoring position with a minute to play. You think they should have just quit in a game where 72 points were on the board and the Bucs had almost 400 yards passing?

I bet you ask every player on that team if they were supposed to just quit there and not a single one would agree.
I agree. They could’ve ran the field goal out there in the next play or two and then onside kicked. Fans don’t pay thousands of dollars to watch teams give up with a chance to win.

Edit: I see you just basically added to your comment and said the same thing lol

No, that's not true. He says "Back to work John" talking to his trainer. Then says " I knew it"
If it’s a dislocation then maybe there is hope he can rehab. My first impression was that his lower leg was completely broken, above the ankle. I’ve always liked Godwin and how he plays. Wishing him the best.

It really stinks. Tampa will see how absolutely difficult it is to try and be an effective team with a mix and match of players to cover for the star skill players.

Godwin is a freaking beast and though I don’t care for the fact that he plays for the Bucs - I respect his game and his tenacity.

I hope he makes a full recovery and has the payday and continued success he deserves - with an AFC team.

Good - that’s better. I just ran with the interpretation, shouldn’t have. Thanks!

I’ll edit the post

My first thought was, "sucks to be them" and then I immediately thought, "We are them."

What's with the injury bug this year? It's taking down a ton of talented starters across the league.
Thank the Players Association for having soft off-seasons...

Bowles should be fire for this
I'm surprised that some fail to see the cynicism and sarcasm in RS93's post here.

With the rash of injuries that the Saints have had, some put all of that on DA and are calling for his head.

They forgot that the Saints (in the 1st 2 games of the season) broke several NFL records for point differential, starting with 40+ in the first two games, turnover differential, and more.

These are hard times, and you can correlate the Saints' decline to when the injury bug hit the team.

Heart-wrenching.

Guy was really a great player. It's amazing he even got to the level he was at after his previous major injury. This one indeed likely signals the end for him, at least as far as him being a high-level player.
I wouldn't doubt Chris Godwin. Dude is a beast, and if anyone can bounce back from another devastating injury, it's Chris.

Nothing to do with the fact we have one of the worst leaders in the history of the NFL in win %? Doesn’t he average 10 losses a year?

Don't know if you noticed, but DA led the team to a winning record last season, and started this season 2-0 before the injuries piled up.
