Remember the days when you went to the store, you grabbed some items, you went to the register, the cashier told you how much it was, you paid for it and you left the store?

Remember those simple days?

Now it seems every time I check out anywhere it's a game of 20 questions:

No, I don't want to sign up for your store credit card

No, I don't want to sign up for your store's rewards club

No, I don't want to take an online survey to enter a $5000 sweepstakes

No, I don't want a free 3 month magazine subscription

No, I don't want to donate a dollar for hungry children

No, I don't want to donate a dollar for children's cancer research

No, I don't want to donate a dollar to save the rainforest

No, I don't want to donate a dollar for hungry kids with cancer living in the rainforest

Sometimes I don't mind as much, but other times it really gets on my nerves

Does this bother anyone else, or is it just me?

The donate $1 thing is an epidemic... it's freakin everywhere.

The hounding from 3rd party sellers on Amazon for reviews is getting out of hand too. 3 emails asking me to review a freaking wrench. It's a wrench. It's metal made to a certain size, how could anyone **** that up or do it amazingly better. Then 2 emails asking me to review the packaging. "It was well packed for a wrench. It prevented UPS from damaging the solid metal, Last time I ordered a wrench was a nightmare. It shattered due to the terrible packaging."

It annoys me beyond belief and especially when they hand you a 2' long receipt with a bunch of nonsense printed on it. I keep receipts folded up in my wallet so I tear the junk off and hand it to the cashier.

It's gotten ridiculous.

When they ask for your phone number I tell them my wife monitors my calls.

You can edit your email settings and control what emails you receive. You can select to not receive emails pertaining to feedback and surveys. It is located under your Communication Preferences.

this is the honest truth at gamestop

The 2 foot long receipt also annoys me to no end (I just bought one thing!)

It reminds me of the last time I bought a laptop from Best Buy. This was probably around 10 years ago. I had been researching laptops for a while and had come down to a couple finalists. I was going to get it on New Egg or something, and then I see that Best Buy was doing a holiday sale (4th of July maybe?) and they ended up being the cheapest price for one of my finalists. So, I decided, I'd pull the trigger and get it.

I printed out the sales price, with the model information, and drove down to Best Buy.

I get there, find the exact model, with the same price as online, and just needed to get an associate to get the box for me (it was locked). After 15 minutes of trying to get someone to help me, he actually starts to get the laptop for me.. then pauses.. realizes this is against his programming.. and then starts to go into "well, what kind of computer do you need? What specs are you looking for?"

I started out nice and answered his questions, but when he wasn't going to get out of this loop.. I stopped him. "Dude, I've been researching which laptop I want for over a month. I know I want this one. it will do exactly what I want for the price I want to pay. Just get the damn thing now and let me get out of here."

The one after that, I ordered on Amazon. No one asked me if I was sure.
