Cam Jordan is a 2 down DE (3 Viewers)

Ryan Nielsen. Letting him walk over the philosophical difference on DL/DEs is what changed.
It took them 4 season to utilize Ellis strong suits and they again tried to convert a rush linebacker into a traditional SAM.

I don't think they are intentionally playing these guys to their strengths, DA and Co. have stumbled into playing both Ellis and Baun by their strengths because of injury and ineffectiveness at edge rusher.

Cam has been a two down DE for a minute but due to lack of alternatives, he's been in on 3rd down too. Never gonna hear a negative word about Cam from me though. Ever...

Letting Baun line up wide and rush the passer has always seemed like a no-brainer, but this was the first week we really got to see that happen. How much y'all wanma bet he reverts to coverage LB by Thursday night? We really stink at sticking with what's working this season.

Sometime it takes guys longer to develop into what they could be on the pro level. DA continues to retool and groom the defense. The team just needs to focus in and execute with more consistency.
It didn't take him longer to develop, it took DA longer to put him in the role he played through college with the likes of the Watt brothers. The role that got him drafted in the first place. He's a pass rusher, not a coverage linebacker and that is always who he's been.

This shows that despite popular opinion Dennis Allen is making appropriate personnel decisions and changes on the fly mid season.
Game 14 is NOT midseason. And he should have made the personnel decision to have Baun rushing the passer years ago, not just weeks ago. He is very behind on making this decision.

didn't i read somewhere in the offseason that this year might be his last? (Cam)

He's banged up, but a banged up Cam still plays the run well on early downs just doesn't quite have the gas on third with a bad ankle. Baun has always been a solid pass rusher, please lawd don't put him in coverage though, but good to see him being used to his strengths! Kpass is a big dude, and when he's been healthy for us as been a very good rotational guy. Also, I don't know who made DeMario upset before the game but the gentleman was everywhere...

Right! We should have sat down that 8 time probowler and future hall of famer after 3 games of low production!
It's not about just this year he has been on the decline but some ate to fanned out to admit it. It was the correct move and should have been done sooner.

This is a clown take. He had 8.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss and made the pro-bowl last season

I love Cam, he's an all time great Saints without a doubt. But 3 of those sacks came in one game, the freak win against Philly in week 17. Before that he was having his worst season since his rookie year. He is well behind that mark this year. Pro Bowls are name recognition trophies and people like him get in due to longevity.

It took 4 seasons for Ellis to get healthy
