Cam Jordan is a 2 down DE (2 Viewers)

DA let Kaden Ellis walk last year. Remember that guy and all his sacks?

But no worries. We’ve got Peyton Turner instead. Appeared in 14 of 46 games in three years with a whopping 3 sacks!
Oh and we have Foskey, a 2nd round pick this year. How could I have forgotten about Foskey? 🥺

Baun is making a huge difference on third downs. Don’t understand why it took this long to make that change.
Love the little shoulder dip he does to get around the OT. Edge speed has been sorely missing since Trey left.

And counter to DA's philosophy, having an undersized, but quick edge rusher actually improved containment on a mobile QB.

100 percent. Even when Baun didn’t get a sack he was flying around the edge and giving the QB something to think about. We need that sort of presence on third downs.

Sometime it takes guys longer to develop into what they could be on the pro level. DA continues to retool and groom the defense. The team just needs to focus in and execute with more consistency.

This shows that despite popular opinion Dennis Allen is making appropriate personnel decisions and changes on the fly mid season.

DE rotation, finding Yidom, and Taylor at slot have been good choices.

I think offense skill player decisions have been meh. Graham looks better than Moreau. AK zero touches on first series vs NYG. But Peat is playing solid at LT.

And we are a better team for it. Jordan was benched today on obvious passing downs. Jordan has 2 sacks all year vs Kpass and Baun combining for 3 sack today.

It took forever, but DA finally adjusted. Baun was used in his natural position of DE pass rush specialist. Jordan is now a 2 down DE focused on run stuffing. Kpass is getting more reps and producing.
Baun is being shown with zero sacks today...

Its week 15 as opposed to week 5 is the problem, tho. If we had been using Baun as a 3rd down edge rusher, Taysom as a QB/wildcat threat, and Graham as a red zone weapon since the beginning of the 2nd quarter of the season (once it was obvious where our deficiencies lay) then we’d have a minimum of 2 more wins, and we’d be fighting for playoff seeding instead of meddling at .500 in 2nd place of a carp division.

I hope and pray upon all that is holy that we win the next 7 games straight or at least 6 of the next 7, but I doubt it. The last thing I want is for us to win the division w DA showing just enough reason to keep him around followed by a 1st weekend loss which yields a mid 20s draft pick and DA staying around for a 3rd straight disappointing season. Either finish like a boss with a deep playoff run to the NCFCG (bc that is the level of talent we have on this team) or find a completely new coaching staff.
