Not to mention the fact that the guy likely gets the vibe in that most of our fans absolutely hate him and will spin everything he does into a negative.

Heck, at this point, I wouldn’t blame him if he internally hates our fanbase and is now only looking out for himself, his family, and his teammates, and will only speak when he has to once in-house off-season work begins.

The fanbase has treated the guy like crap and are now whining and complaining that he opts to lay low and mind his own business like virtually everyone else on the team is this time of year.

I am downright embarrassed by our fanbase’s treatment of this player.
Remember it didn't end well in Oakland either. He was benched for a journeyman QB.

To look at the other side, watch what happens if we go say 11-6, win the division, win a playoff game with Carr as QB1. The narrative could change for Carr, the team and the fans. Winning cures all or at least keeps the noise to a minimum.

No doubt. If the team goes out and wins 10 or 11 and gets into the playoffs while Carr plays well, then I could see Carr deciding he wants to stay and signing and wanting an extension. And some fans would change their mind about Carr.

But some of it will depend on what they do at QB in the draft. If they take a QB in the first, it seems likely Carr is gone almost no matter what happens short of say an NFC Championship Game appearance. But, if they only take a mid-round QB, there is certainly a route for Carr to be here in 2026 or beyond.

Yep.
I’ve zero against Carr but there was a lot said about him in that exit as well. I remember it being said by his own teammates that he was not good with criticism and uber sensitive. That there were two sets of rules, one for them and one for him.

Is what it is, hoping for a happy ending for both parties. I have zero against Derek Carr but I love the New Orleans Saints so that’s where my loyalty lies.

Maybe Carr wanted to leave because of a lack of commitment from the Saints. With no head coach and no commitments about the path forward from Mickey, it’s hard to put this on Carr. He would have been crazy to saunter around a city that doesn’t like him, with no commitment of a future here and every member of the sports media looking for a sound bite.

I didn't put it on Carr. Carr has every right to do what he thinks is best for him. I just thinks it's odd for so many to refuse to believe that Carr wanted out. Especially considering all the reasons why Carr might not want to be here.

Regardless, I think the request to be traded happened after Moore has already been named HC and after they asked him to take a pay cut.

That had more to do with an injury guarantee than anything. Plus Josh McDaniels is the QB killer and wanted his own guy.
Agree with this, which brings me to another point…most incoming head coaches want their own guys all over, and especially at QB. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if we draft one just because Kellen wants his own guy.

Yes I know what he’s said publicly but life isn’t that simple, of course he’s going to say the right things, even if he’s going in a different direction and he knows it.

Be fun to see how it all plays out.

“Love New Orleans and it will love you back”, isn’t true. Play like a HOF QB and win at an elite level and New Orleans will love you…just like any other NFL city.

It is true. Winston has never been a good QB for the Saints but he loved/loves New Orleans and it loves him back. But, sure, like any NFL city if you are a HoF QB it will love you even if you are an butt crevasse.

I agree with you but they can’t help it. It has to be written in the sky. Has to be spoken or typed by that very person….which very seldom happens as we both know. Subterfuge and misdirection are parts of the game and a part of life in general.

Wonderful example.

Why/? NOLA represents a relatively light fan/media market. He's a multi-millionaire who achieved wealth that most of us can only dream about. Excluding social media, I don't think people "hate" him. At this point, he's just symbolic of the thing that frustrates many of us. We got rid of Allen, but can't get rid of Mick. That leaves Carr as the only thing we can move on from in the next couple of years. This is the reality of the post-Drew/Sean era, which has been below average. There are people on this board and society, in general, facing real medical, professional, and financial challenges.
I can feel sorry for them, but Carr not so much. He's lucky he's here and not a market like Philly, NYC, or Chicago.

And frankly, the biggest thing in support of the idea that Carr wanted out and might still want out, is the fact that neither Carr nor his agent have come out and denied these reports. Complete silence from Carr, his agent, and his brother. And you know that if Carr's brother thought Carr didn't want out, he would be all over social media yelling that this was all lies to discredit Carr.

I still love Jameis, Dalton, Teddy, McCown, Chase, and Blake. None of them were elite. :)

Yep. This city still loves Archie Manning and he never had better than a .500 record and never played in a playoff game. Hell some still love Bobby Hebert and he and Carl Smith were the anchors that stopped the Dome Patrol era Saints from winning some playoff games.
