Carr wanted to be traded prior to restructure per NOF and CBSsports

We all heard the possibility that Carr wanted out...here are more details from CBS. They quote Nick Underhill who says "the Saints are in the quarterback business."

The New Orleans Saints restructured Derek Carr's contract this offseason, all but ensuring the quarterback will remain with the team through the 2025 season. That doesn't mean all is well between the two sides. Carr sought a trade before reworking his deal, according to NewOrleans.Football, and his relationship with the Saints remains "tenuous at best" as the club scouts potential quarterbacks of the future.

This comes weeks after previous reports indicated Carr had interest in exploring his value on the open market, though the Saints apparently had no desire to release or trade the veteran. In turn, Carr publicly admitted he would be unwilling to take a pay cut, and the two sides ultimately agreed to redo his four-year, $150 million deal, pushing tens of millions into future seasons.

This will not end well.
Here we go again, these reports and re-reports are all conjecture, speculation and rumor. And none of it has come from Carr's camp.
When a player really wants to be traded , or even if they are saying they want to be traded to get a better contract it comes from the player's camp. See Myles Garrett.

If and it's a big IF DC wanted out of N.O. ( and I wouldn't blame him if he did) then he would have used the half a doz ways to facilitate that trade, pay cut, pay off to lower the cap hit. He could have made up the difference with his new team.

Nick also said in the beginning that most of what they talk about leading up to the draft ends up just being noise.
DC is 34 yrs old if the Saints were NOT in the QB market I would be upset. It's evident, we drafted a QB in the last 2 drafts.

Also, there a few people that think that maybe some of Nick's contacts left with the coaching change . When it comes to inside info he does not seem to be as on as he was in the past.

It's my guess that maybe DC didn't want to take a pay cut and may have said he'd waive his no-trade for the right team. That was before. I'm guessing that after he and CKM had a chance to really talk DC is on board . At least for this yr. I'm sure they will revisit at the end of the yr and take the best action. Really , what do you think DC and the team will do if they win 10-11 games , the NFCS an a playoff game??

Derek Carr is the reason eyeliner prices have gone up in Nola and the surrounding areas.

He’s the reason why I bought eyeliner

Theres two sides to every story. if you get rid of Carr, you’re going 0-17 in 2025. If you’re ok with that outcome, then gripe on. If not, then say nothing and let it play out. What tells me there is some smoke, is with how active they’ve been scouting QBs. The Saints were not scouting QBs when Bree’s was 33.
No, but they should have been when he was 38.

There was no world where Derek Carr took a paycut to be traded.

1) He has signed his last multi year starting QB contract. He wouldnt give that up. The next deal he gets will be a 1 year deal, either to be a bridge to a rookie QB (which is hopefully what he does here for 6 weeks) or maybe to become the new Vinny Testeverde/Joe Flacco where teams call you when the rest of their QB room is injured.

2) You cant trade what no one wants.

I have no doubt carr will play hard and to the best of his ability.....that last part is the problem. His best still isn't good enough. He's a mid tier QB on his best day.

If he didn't want to be here then he should have accepted when the team asked him to take a pay cut. If he thought the team was going to embrace cap hell and not have a starting QB he was sadly mistaken and an idiot to boot.

If he didn't want to be in New Orleans, he needed to work with the team.. He said no and the Saints, rightfully, said enjoy your sack of money because you're a Saint for another year. As I understand it, he didnt like that the Saints restructured his contract. To damn bad. It was the right decision for the Saints.
I don’t know who wins in this situation. I guess Carr wins because he gets his money, but the Saints gain nothing but drama if he truly doesn’t want to be here.

No, but they should have been when he was 38.
Yep. Getting scooped on Mahomes by the Chiefs was one thing, and it worked out with Lattimore helping the team win the division Brees’ last four years.

But the next year they could have sat put and taken Lamar Jackson, and instead they traded up for Davenport. Huge mistake, huge missed opportunity.
