Carr wanted to be traded prior to restructure per NOF and CBSsports

It’s pretty obvious that he doesn’t want to be here anymore after not even showing up during the week of the Super Bowl.

The fanbase never warmed up to Carr and even cheered for Taysom Hill during a game in the dome. His HC Dennis Allen is gone and then you add MT and Olave’s brother talking smack as well. There’s just a bunch of negativity surrounding Carr and he probably feels he’s played pretty well while here (which he has) and even fought through injuries to play. It also sounds like he was approached to take a pay cut. He probably doesn’t feel appreciated.

It’s time to move on as the situation is just completely sour and if he doesn’t want to be here, then Loomis needs to figure this mess out somehow.

If he didn't want to be here then he should have accepted when the team asked him to take a pay cut. If he thought the team was going to embrace cap hell and not have a starting QB he was sadly mistaken and an idiot to boot.

If he didn't want to be in New Orleans, he needed to work with the team.. He said no and the Saints, rightfully, said enjoy your sack of money because you're a Saint for another year. As I understand it, he didnt like that the Saints restructured his contract. To damn bad. It was the right decision for the Saints.

I agree with you, but Carr is too much of a competitor to not play and play hard. Just might not see him put himself in a position where he might get injured like he's done before.

I’m not knocking his competitiveness and professionalism - but *if* these reports are true (and we know how that can go) - it suggests it’s not a great situation. Going stopgap with a player - a player counted on to be a leader - who reportedly wanted out, is a challenging setup for a new coach and a fresh start.

If the reports aren’t true, or if they’ve truly smoothed things over, maybe there’s a workable way forward. If not, tough decisions might be inevitable, and even necessary.

Theres two sides to every story. if you get rid of Carr, you’re going 0-17 in 2025. If you’re ok with that outcome, then gripe on. If not, then say nothing and let it play out. What tells me there is some smoke, is with how active they’ve been scouting QBs. The Saints were not scouting QBs when Bree’s was 33.

Going 0-17 would guarantee us Arch or whoever the top QB prospect in the draft would be.

Carr isn’t half the QB Brees was. There was a clear and obvious reason we weren’t scouting QBs when Brees was 33 and are now with Carr.

LOL you just made the best point to argue against your own position. TYhis DC wanted a trade and wants out is speculation, conjecture and rumor. None of it has come from Carr's camp.
Your right, IF he didn't want to be here he WOULD have accepted a pay cut to make him more tradeable.
IF he didn't want to be in N.O. he would have pursued the half a doz ways to facilitate a trade to get out of N.O.
IF a trade or a change of teams was his priority he could have easily made it happen and recovered any pay cut from his new team

Yes, there’s definitely smoke. IMO, Arch isn’t going pro next year. But Nuss will, and I can definitely see that happening, because his father is our QB coach. People should start getting comfortable with this possibility. If Carr is gone, we draft top 3.

Who knows for sure, but 2 sources I view as reputable said it so I'll take their word for it over "Trust me bro".

I could very will be mistaken, but I don’t see nuss improving his position enough to be drafted by a 0-17 team.

Unsurprising. The writing was literally on the wall just as obvious as DA being an awful HC hire.

Seems like the cap space we have now is to help remedy the issue in some manner.

Right now I’m getting the knee jerk reaction impression that Dart will be the play @9 unless Jeanty drops to us. I’ll have to think more on it.
He could still be moved and or if and when we draft a QB that player could facilitate a trade or relegate Carr to a reserve role at some points during the season if he proves to be a poor fit.

Derek Carr is the reason eyeliner prices have gone up in Nola and the surrounding areas.

Derek Carr eats soup with a fork.

Derek Carr invented the Death Star.

Derek Carr thinks size doesn't matter.

Derek Carr wears socks with sandals.

Derek Carr still uses Mapquest.
Now, Skeeter, he ain't hurtin' nobody

There’s been rumblings since the season ended. I believe his brother (David) had done an interview suggesting Derek wanted out. BUT if he really had wanted out so badly he could’ve easily restructured his contract, taken a pay cut, and started actively shopping himself. I think he overvalued himself believing a QB needy team would contact the Saints willing to trade for his current contract. Carr believes himself to be a top NFL QB even though every real world metric says he is very middle of the pack at his best…..
