Carr wanted to be traded prior to restructure per NOF and CBSsports

My big problem with this RUMOR is that if he truly wanted to be traded is he would have made that be known to management and that likely could have made it happen. However once it got to the league year starting and the restructure happened a trade just isn’t possible pre June 1 and a trade after June 1 (there is no early June 1 trade) would mean they would literally be throwing away $38ishM in cap space and and Gayle's money.

Yep. Getting scooped on Mahomes by the Chiefs was one thing, and it worked out with Lattimore helping the team win the division Brees’ last four years.

But the next year they could have sat put and taken Lamar Jackson, and instead they traded up for Davenport. Huge mistake, huge missed opportunity.
We wouldn’t have taken Lamar if we stayed pat. He wasn’t CSPs type of QB

Can he do another restructure to facilitate a trade? I’m thinking Pittsburgh is the only team looking now.
No, but they could conceivably move him after June 1, assuming they were okay with eating the $39M they’ve already paid him for this season. I think the only way this would happen would be if they draft a quarterback that they want to play immediately.

I won’t be shocked at all if this happens. I believe Denver ate a huge chunk to get rid of Wilson….SP had em in the playoffs the next season. It can be done.

I know DC will give it his all if he’s here another year so I’m good either way.

There’s been over a dozen mocks in the past week putting Dart at 21 to PIT:

Jaxson Dart mock draft database

He’s pretty much a lock to go in the first right now. If they DO decide he’s the guy they should either:

Trade back to the mid teens and take him before SEA(also projected to possibly take him at 18) and pick up a couple of day 2 picks OR just take him at 9 if all else fails.

He is not going to last to 40
I have no problem if the Saints decide to "reach" for a QB if Moore thinks he has all the traits he's looking for. But personally I would have a problem if they give up assets for that reach. If they think Dart is the guy, then go get him with the 9th pick. There is no better scenario in this world then to get your future QB with your original pick. We gave up two first rounders for a guy like Davenport. I really have no problem to draft a QB early, even if I do think his real value is somewhere around picks 30 to 40. But this is the most important position in all of sports. I'm good with taking a guy like Dart with the 9th. But I don't want them to give up any assets, cause we have so many needs literally everywhere.

Right

Even if they use 9 on Dart you’d still have picks 40/71/93/111/131 plus 3 late round picks to use on starters and/or depth.

I can certainly live with coming out of the draft with the QB of the future the team is sold on plus 5-6 starters/contributors to go along with him.

This team needs a young QB and actual depth and contributors: with 9 picks we should be able to accomplish both if they’re smart about it.

The planning at the end of Brees career couldn't have gone more wrong for the Saints. Not being more aggressive to land Mahomes or taking Jackson really set this franchise back when you factor in other poor draft choices.

Carr had two really good years, better than any QB not named Brees with an OLine only his brother and Archie Manning can understand with a coach only Archie can understand and we hate the guy.

We always said it will be hard for anyone coming after Brees. Most of us won’t be happy with anyone not a future HOF replacement

Jackson wouldn't have done nothing here but run QB Power..lol. Honestly, I was really hoping that Teddy would take the mantle but Drew wanted that last season. I'm not going to say that we didn't have a plan but I believe that it was all situations. WIth Sean choosing Teddy and JW, I think we would have had a way forward, but Drew's last ride and Jameis ACL had other plans...lol. Then the kicking the can down the road killed us but that's another topic...

IMO DB was ready to retire after the 19 season and word got out that Brady wanted to come work with SP and then he changed his mind and came back. That threw a monkey wrench into the plans.
Had DB retired after 19 and Brady came here we could have easily drafted Love instead of Ruiz and we would have had or QB of the future

It was not kicking the can that messed up the cap it was Covid

I could very will be mistaken, but I don’t see nuss improving his position enough to be drafted by a 0-17 team.
Well he’s projected to be a first rounder and there’s plenty saying he may end up the first overall pick next season. We shall see.

I’m not saying he deserves that, but he’s got that skill set that NFL teams absolutely fall in love with.

He’s currently the second favorite to win the Heisman so I’m guessing he’ll have a much better year than you’re anticipating. If he does have a Heisman type season he’ll be a top 5 pick.

Walter football already has him as a top 5 pick, but they also have Arch as the number 1 pick and he isn’t going to come out next season.

I don’t know who wins in this situation. I guess Carr wins because he gets his money, but the Saints gain nothing but drama if he truly doesn’t want to be here.

As a QB, he can't go out and do is very best. He can't be half hearted, he can't underperform. Carr knows that if he wants to continue to be a starting QB in this league after next year, he has to play. That's what the Saints get. If Carr doesn't want to retire in 2006, he will come in and make the best of it. He still has to put his best foot forward. The NFL will tolerate divas at WR because not every play is dependent on the WR. At QB? Even if you're as good as Aaron Rodgers was, if you become a malcontent or underperformed, good luck finding a new job after the Saints cut you.
