Catholic Church Scandal! (2 Viewers)

did you Confirm? I didn't. to hell with that. I was openly Atheist in catechism and during my time at Our Lady Immaculate.

I did not. I got kicked out of Confirmation class for giving them a truthful answer when they asked what I believed. I didn't want to go in the first place, but my brothers convinced me to go to make my parents happy. I didn't intentionally do anything to get kicked out. In fact, it was all cool when they asked me Catholic doctrine which I knew from 10 years of Catholic school, but they didn't like my answer when they asked what I believed.

However, since I was Baptized, I am still considered Catholic by the Church.

oh yea, I wasn't considering the baby water trick, where they sign you up to the cult without your consent.. that was featured on young sheldon a couple episodes back...

Always look for the opportunity in a crisis?

I don’t know if you can really compare Catholic Church to Scientology or NXIVM. There are some crucial, fundamental differences between those “cults” and a Christian denomination that’s existed for 1,950 years. You can bash, mock insult the Catholic Church all day long but Heaven help you if you dare to leave Scientology or criticize its teachings, L. Ron Hubbard, Ron Miscavige, or its ultra-expensive authoritarian internal power-structure. If you publicly criticize either Miscavige or the Scientology, you are then immediately put on a “Fair Play” hit list and harassed, bullied, stalked and threatened.

Don’t believe me, ask Leah Remini and be sure to watch some of her 3-season expose series about Scientology.
Oh, I know all about the Co$. And I hear you. But some Mormons and Fundie Baptists are pretty coercive. I guess throw the Amish in there. I want no part of any of them.

How many married teachers abuse their students? Should all teacher's be forced to be married before they begin teaching? It isn't the lack of marriage, it is the monster in the person. When the monster is allowed to steer the wheel and encouraged to do so by lack of consequences and blatant coverup by the shepherds, then the monster gets more empowered and attracts similar monsters to the herd.
There seem to be more and more teachers. Actually more and more female teachers. What did I say about groups of children? Oh, right.

Allowing priests to marry has nothing to do with pedophilia. It wouldn't help, since there is no link between celibacy and pedophilia.
I'd have to agree. There are certainly other ways to deal with your celibacy that don't involve hurting children.

Well, catching them early and making them accountable for their crimes and not covering it up and allowing it to become systemic certainly wouldn’t hurt.
Got to agree with that. The Catholic church made itself complicit and liable for an already disgusting issue. I dunno, sounds kinda culty to me.

Blue, you can leave the Catholic Church anytime you like. Criticize, condemn it, label it as sick and disturbing and sue it for millions in emotional damage.

You threaten to do that publicly as a Scientologist about its abuse, use of slave labor at its facilities, churches, high-ranking individual Scientologists like Ron Miscavige attacking, hitting and verbally abusing subordinates and ordinary members out of spite. If you go forward and criticize them, they put you on a “Fair Play” revenge/retaliation list where they will try every dirty trick in the book to discredit you, hire PIs to stalk and follow you to such a extreme degree they hope you’ll have a nervous breakdown.

They openly admit to having this “Fair Play” scheme first devised by L. Ron Hubbard and how they use it to attack ex-Scientologists, critics of their faith, religion.

You can leave the Catholic Church if you become disillusioned with it and its dogma, leaving a cult like Scientology, Jim Jones” People’s Temple, NXIVM, Branch Davidians under David Koresh is much harder and more perilous.
CoS is starting to get sued, though.

It’s related to a response Marsha made about organized religions acting like cults today and knowing how cults operate, work or function, that’s just really the case.

You can leave any Church you like and tell them you’re an atheist. If you’re apart of a cult, that’s a lot harder and far more difficult.

That’s my point.
Do you know anyone that was/is in Scientology?

It does beg the question though and this is something Dortesesky touched on in the Grand Inquisitor: how would Jesus Christ be received and treated if he came back today and called out most religious leaders for their fraud and hypocrisy like he did 2,000 years ago?
We already know. It's why I'm not going to join any "church" or "religion" or "cult" so that I can wait en masse for whatever it is we're waiting for. Marsha believes what Marsha believes and I'm not trying to get anyone else to believe what I believe. I don't need a group anymore to tell me what to believe.

Present sports fans of a certain football team message board excepted.

I realize you werent asking me.. but i have personally known two $cientologists (that im aware of).. Both were highly successful (one self-made rich) and highly motivated.. it’s my opinion though that literally almost any organization or movement has at least a couple of nuggets that can benefit you if you apply them.. whether it’s LDS, Catholicism, the Quakers or anything else, you can find something positive if you look hard enough.. it’s my opinion that the two $cientologists ive known happened to use that as their vessel, they most likely would have been successful regardless and would have just channeled their energy into a different philosophy if they’d never discovered the teachings of Hubbard .

But it does make ya wonder, i heard someone say after seeing Top Gun Maverick , with Tom Cruise looking like he hadnt aged a day in 35 years- “Does $cientology actually WORK ??”
