Chase Young had a neck procedure on 3/21 & will be ready for season; Played through neck stinger all 2023; Saints are comfortable with it (2 Viewers)

So, he played an entire season with a neck injury that required surgery minus the first game of the season. Bodes well for his effort concerns & once again leaves a New Orleans fans hoping for injury luck with a player, sounds like he was meant to be a Saint.

this is the kind of stuff you have to deal w/ when you're pushed into a corner. Sigh

Good thing it's only a 1 year deal. Don't know that there's anyone at another positon that they could have used that money on that fits either defensive/offensive system. Perhaps Tyron Smith at LT but I get the feeling they want Penning there. Not necessarily wasted money but swear I would have preferred Clowney.

Now I'm confused. Why wouldn't he have had the surgery immediately after the season?
Maybe he didn't think he needed it. Maybe some team that regularly catches things others don't, caught something extra that needed surgery.

Good question. I'm guessing he didn't get it done during the season last year because WAS/SF wanted him to play through it, and since he was a FA they didn't encourage him to get it done after the season. He didn't have anyone looking out for him?

I get the feeling they plan to start Penning at LT too. Especially after they brought back Hurst and signed Oli yesterday. Those are both depth guys that can play LT if needed but will probably compete at LG. They could still draft a LT, but this looks like they are setting up to start Penning. I'm not particularly comfortable with that plan if it is the plan. But, they know more than me about Penning.

Wow, surprised we gave him a fully guaranteed deal given this. I am sure our doctor's checked his medical records thoroughly (hopefully).

Hopefully the deal does not have void years on it so that if this turns out to be an issue they eat all of the cap hit this year instead of having the dead money later.

I preferred Clowney, too. At least for a year until Foskey can be ready to takeover.
