Chase Young had a neck procedure on 3/21 & will be ready for season; Played through neck stinger all 2023; Saints are comfortable with it (3 Viewers)

That ain't how we play. We're going to keep signing him to contract extensions/restructures until he's 40.

Normally yes, but this year they have been avoiding pushing money into future years on older players or injured players. I thinks that's why they have not done simple restructures with Hill, Ram, and AK. Although I suspect they may be trying to do a deal like Mathieu did with AK.

FWIW, my google search says that there are no surgeries for "stingers" and the only "procedure" for stingers may be epidural steroid injections, but generally the treatment is ice, anti-inflammatories, and rest. So this appears to be a bit more than a "stinger" since I doubt a steroid injection would keep him out for a few months.

Dumb, and some folks jumped on TJ for calling out this junk. Once again, we are trying to fool the rest of the league. Instead of our own injury-prone players, we are signing them now as well.

I think Young has skipped OTAs every year he's been in the NFL, and sounds like he waited to sign a deal before having a procedure to clear this up as well. I'm prepared for Young to be the same player he's been for the last two teams: talented, a sack artist, and unmotivated.
You were pumping me up then you hit me with the "unmotivated"

Pretty classic.

They did restructure Ram this year. Only AK and Hill have salaries left that can be restructured for significant savings.

Not ideal but just to try and bright side this, he played with this injury all last season and still managed 7.5 sacks. As long as he’s healthy by the start of the season that feels like it could be the floor for him, especially given he’ll be playing with a better secondary than either Washington or SF (assuming we don’t trade Lattimore).

You say Injury, I say discomfort.

Forgot that they did something with Ram. But it wasn't a simple restructure. It was like the Mathieu deal. He took a big paycut and got an extra year in exchange. They didn't just convert his salary into a bonus to spread the cap hit over future years.
