Chase Young (Pressures & Sacks thru 10 (1 Viewer)

Depends on price. If he is willing to be affordable, even on another short term deal, it might be worth keeping him another year as we build around him and others. He hasn’t looked to be worth breaking the bank at this points, but at times he’s shown potential. If he can only get past “at times” and make it all the time

Young will be a mercenary, similar to Clowney (who is on his 6th team). Someone will pay Young—don’t forget the Vikings paid Davenport $13m after a two sack season.
At what price do you think it's worth it for us to keep him? It's my thought that the only help Young gets at times is Bresse in pass rushing situations. I also think that if we can get a DT that provides push up the middle and replace Cam @ the other DE spot with someone better Young could be way more productive

I think we need to find young talent everywhere in our roster. First we need solid young QB that we can build on.
We can’t do much next season since we have lots of holes in the roster and can’t replace everyone. We do have few players that playing great such as AK, Bresee and others. But, many players have to go.

My guess is his market is at least at the Granderson level, which would be around $15-16m/yr with $25-30m guaranteed at signing (with the cap increasing). I could see him opting for a one year deal at the $15-16m level that is fully guaranteed to try again for a bigger, longer-term deal. He'll only be 26 next year.

I would be good with either deal, especially if Cam is gone. Those aren't huge numbers for an edge rusher.

He has already made $20.63M and can make another $1.880 for a total of $22.51M. When his deal voids in March the team will take a $9M dead money hit in next years cap to add to the $63.7M estimated cap deficit for 2025. They can't even use a June 1st cut to push most of that $9M hit to 2026 due to the void clause. I just don't see Loomis giving him another $15M for next year.

He is definitely not worth resigning for more money next season. Let him walk.

He does not show-up in the RUN game and he doesn't have a high motor.

If they extend his contract before his current deal voids, that void year cap hit will continue to be spread out at $2.2m/yr. That would give us $6.8m in space that can be used to sign him in 2025 that can’t be used for another player.

A one year deal with a $13m signing bonus and $2m salary would only cost the team $4.6m in 2025, which on net would create more cap space than letting him walk. Maybe replace some of that signing bonus with bigger NLTBE incentives to give us an even smaller cap hit while giving him a financial incentive to make more plays.

A grade in the 60's is an average grade (at least his overall grade), and right now $13m is an average salary for a starting edge rusher (ranks 31st). I'm not saying he's my favorite player on the team, but we'll only have Granderson and Foskey on the team next year if Cam retires.

Re-signing Turner will likely be similar to the Vikings signing Davenport but cheaper, maybe $10m or so for a year because he hasn't had a big sack year like Davenport did in 2021 (nine sacks in 11 games). He benefits like Young from only being 26 next year, and he has shown flashes when he can get on the field.

Ok i understand the logic in this business outlook.

However, from the production outlook we need to get better, high-motor guys to compliment our defense.

I do believe the NFL will increase the CAP in 2025.

Also, maybe it's time we get a new GM🤔
