Chicago's ST Coach - Make it happen Loomis!! (1 Viewer)

Hester may get good blocking. That is a reflection of the coaching. To say Hester only appears to be special because of the blocking or scheme is inaccurate in my opinion. Hester has shown the HE is someone special in the return dept. Coaches aren't kicking away from him because he has number 32 and 55 blocking for him. they kick away from him because he can take it to the house and almost always gets yardage if you kick to him. the other 10 guys make a difference, but he is the difference maker.

I'm not going to comment on Hester's body of work because obviously the guy is very special in the return game, but the plays and game last night that started this thread were pretty easy plays for a guy of his capabilities - Lots of space and over pursuit. I'd lay blame on the Vikes here.

It's like we just tell Roby to run straight and hope to get past people. Never really see much design from us outside of the end of the game yesterday

I understand we need a new special teams coach(man, he is just terrible)...but Roby would be a a bad returner with anyone coaching him.

He's too stiff and lacks vision and an overall feel for the return game compared to other kick off returns. He just flat out plays stupid out there.

Let's not forget that part of the reason we even got to the Superbowl was PT"s big return in overtime against the Vikings.

You know, I've waited a long time before saying this, but our D-Line SUCKS. Will Smith is a good DE but nothing to write home about. Remi Aoydel can't do anything against even mediocre O-Linemen, and Sed Ellis, even though I was all for drafting him, has turned out to be nothing special, and Alex Brown, though an upgrade over Grant, does absolutely nothing. GW needs to reevaluate his thinking on D-Linemen and get some badazzes on this D-Line before our time runs out.

The LB corps needs to be completely overhauled. Vilma continuously tackles too high and gives up too much ground to the RB's and gets run over too frequently for my tastes. As for our DB's, we still need at least one more top talent here due to the constant injuries to this position on our team.

Let's get the Chicago ST coach to clean up these perceived failures?

Roby is a difference maker on special teams in all phases. The Saints keep only a couple of specialists and he's still around. They tried to cut him and had to admit their mistake and get him back. I'll take his body of work over your assessment any day.

Hester is great, but after his return TD the backup got a ton of yds too. If it was possible we'd be fair catching KOs in comparison

If I'm not mistaken, last yr Roby led the league in return yds. I think Roby is good enough even if he isn't very elusive. I dont want a starting RB on such a dangerous position unless the game is on the line. I like having a return specialist. We just don't put very much priority on ST

We got killed vs Cleveland (or was it Arz?) on some craptacular ST gaffs. And dont forget last year the Bills ran a fake fg and scored a TD. We need a new coach
