Nah. This is Phil Simms' kid we're talking about. I don't think Drew Brees even cracked his top 10 during his last 5 seasons in the league. The guy has a huge irrational dislike for anything Saints. I could easily see him moving Winston from #26 to #23 after a deep playoff run because... reasons.

If it was a normal person ranking them I would agree. But Winston could go 5300 yards with 53 td's and 15 INT's and all Simms would want to do is talk about those INT's and move him down to #29.

Why does anyone care what Chris Simms, or even Brady Quinn(?) has to say. Neither could play QB at the NFL level, and yet they're NFL analysts? Puhleez....QUIT talking about their opinions and making them relevant.

I'll listen to Tony Romo....he's QBd winning teams, been to playoffs and probowls. Troy Aikman, Steve Young, and Kurt Warner are VERY credible to me....SB champs and MVPs at the QB position, and I'll consider any opinion THEY care to voice.

But if I had to choose between toilet paper & Chris Simms' opinions, I'll take the toilet paper. Because at least toilet paper has a useful purpose.

He doesn't hate the Saints. During the years he gave critique of Brees & MT, he was constantly fawning over Sean Payton's coaching.

I've listened to Chris Simms for a few years. There are two things that have huge impact on how he evaluates. He likes QBs who have big arms. And he likes WRs/CBs who can fly down the field. These aren't the only factors, obviously. But in his mind if there's a QB or WR who can do everything else at an elite level but they lack that one thing, he will always devalue them in relation to how others view that player. It's as simple as that.

Sean Payton coached up Kerry Collins to take the Giants to the SB. He coached up UDFA Tony Romo to a pro-bowl level. And he coached up a pedestrian game-manager named Drew Brees into a perennial pro-bowler and sure-fire 1st ballot HOF QB.

I'm talking about people who know what needs to be done and have the skins on the wall to show for it. At the NFL level. And you want to compare Simms to those guys? that's the poor comparison.

If you find meaningful content in Simms opinions, good for you. I find him to be a sensationalist contrarian who lacks significant substance, and must garner attention through outlandish style. He's a former player who subscribes to the same broadcast style as Skip Bayless. But at least Simms played the game at the NFL level....I'll respect that. I just don't see how his opinions carry any traction, given how often they are outrageously contrarian. But airtime is limited....I'd prefer the opinions of those with some skins on the wall; not a blowhard of unrealized potential. JMO...

I just get frustrated when people post about something that translates to "lack of respect" for the Saints org, which generates more talk about that subject matter, which generates the "appropriate buzz" for more of the same. And we're amused or offended, all over again. The solution is quite simple. Quit paying attention.

I know...easier said than done...as here I am, discussing it too. This concludes my contribution to Chris Simms' salary...
