Classic TV Shows and Movies You Hate (1 Viewer)

Hate is a strong word, and to each his own, so I can't really single out a particular show.

But...anything with a laugh track makes me change the channel. Live, real human response is okay, but that canned off and on stuff - nope. If you have to tell me what's funny, it's not funny.
Typically I agree about the laugh track, but many 70's shows seemed unable to get by without them. Happy Days was a great show until it went live and had the god-awful Chachi show up. It also took a nosedive after Pat Morita left and was replace by Al Molinaro.

I don't get the exaggerated hysteria that seems to grip my household regarding The Sound of Music, nor any other musical for that matter. The only thing making TSOM watchable was Julie Andrews, I could turn off the sound and just look at her. She was beautiful.

Saved by the Bell was unwatchable and Family Matters stunk, as did both Laverne and Shirley, and Mork and Mindy.

and Mork and Mindy.

that's the second mork and mindy vote
it was one of my can't miss shows but it DID NOT age well - seeing snippets here and there, it's hard to see what the original appeal was (obviously outside of Robin Williams and then jonathan winters performances)

but that's the case for most of the highly formulaic sit-coms of that time - 3s company, one day at a time, alice, et al
Barney Miller, Soap, Taxi hold up - but few other sdo

The Shining.

Just saw it.

I agree totally with all of the above, toss in Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley also. There aren't many half hour sitcoms I've ever liked, and it's probably from being forced to watch that stuff growing up. With the exception of All in the Family which had some brilliant characters and writing, Sanford and So , and the original cast of MASH, not much good out of that timeframe.

As far as movies, The Godfather series I simply can't get into. Someone mentioned The Shining, not one of my favorites either. But my all time hated movie has to be Gone with the Wind. God, I detest that movie. Detest it with a passion.

I can't believe I forgot family guy

I've posted many times here over the years saying how much I dislike it

I don't think it's funny at all and never have

*setting phasers to *****

but seriously, do you think it's a sci-fi thing or Star Trek specifically? (did you watch BattleStar?)

You got me. It may just be a sci-fi thing. I've never tried to watch BattleStar so I can't say for sure.

Also, back to Friends. Friends is just too foriegn to me to be funny, I've accepted that. It's like a giant inside joke that's not meant for me. Cool. Here's the other issue I have with it. Jennifer Aniston is extremely attractive. She's not funny. Am I wrong in thinking this? Anything in which she is cast in a comedic role has to over come her attempts to be funny. Sometimes the rest of the cast can pick up the slack, but most of the time not.

wkrp holds up IMO

Terminator 2 is a movie that has aged terribly and is inferior to the original Terminator in every way except budget and special effects.

I get preferring the original, it's a bit like the Alien vs Aliens debate but completely disagree that it's aged horribly

I still think it hold up very well, especially if you forget everything that came afterwards

Funnily enough, I watched it again a while back after not having seen it for a long time, and while I still stand by the fact that I think the original is a superior movie in every way except for overall scale and FX, I also feel like I developed some really harsh feelings towards T2 over the years that weren't really validated on my latest rewatch.
