Classic TV Shows and Movies You Hate (2 Viewers)

didn't have much use for Donald Duck or any of the female "Mickey Mouse' characters

:nono: That's mouseogynist! :nono:

:hihi:

Star Trek....anything Star Trek. I just don't get it.

Whereas for me, it's always been Star Wars: I was bored by the first one back in '77 and have remained more or less unmoved by the rest. Everyone has their blind spots. :idunno:

At the extreme other end of the entertainment spectrum, I've never much liked the films of François Truffaut (although I like his critical writing, including his great book about Hitchcock, and I even like other Nouvelle Vague directors like Godard and Rohmer).

never thought about it as a kid when i was watching, but laugh tracks for cartoons is such a bizarre concept - my oldest went through a Scooby Doo phase (which i was more than fine with), but everytime i hears laughs, i could only picture a gaggle of people huddle over some animators editing suite and laughing on cue

but speaking of cartoons, hated Tom & Jerry, didn't have much use for Donald Duck or any of the female "Mickey Mouse' characters

Agree on the laugh track, and it's the same exact laugh, every time (especially with Scooby Doo)

Disagree on Disney, Love Donald Duck, my fave cartoon character

Even as a kid I didn't like the Hanna Barbera cartoons, Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Snagglepuss etc

I didn't find them funny then or now

I never liked The Karate Kid.

I never liked any of ABC's "TGIF" shows, but somehow Full House had enough popularity for Netflix to revive it. :idunno:

anything with Andy Griffith, couldn't stand the man, not sure why.

I tried 2 episodes of Breaking Bad and just couldn't get into it. I guess I need to push through a few more but I really have no desire to. Something must be wrong with me because everybody says it's a must watch show.

Not sure if there considered classics but I hate Family Matters and Full House! Two of the worst shows I've ever seen.

Heat -

Everyone raves about the Pacino-Dinero tete a tete finally happening, but I thought it was extremely underwhelming. Felt like they both kinda mailed it in.

Tombstone -

Val Kilmer was awesome, but the rest of the movie doesn't deserve the praise, I don't think. Kurt Russel, who I like in a lot of other stuff, never rang true in this.

The Godfather Series -

I think this is a function of when I saw it. I think a big part of its allure was the depiction of the crime family, which had never really been shown in this manner before The Godfather. But I didn't see The Godfather until well after Goodfellas, and after mafia media projects in general had become commonplace. So that initial behind the curtain appeal of the movie wasn't there for me, and I just saw a plodding drama.

The Matrix -

Whatever. Go head, Neo. I don't care.

The Jeffersons, Goodtimes, Mama's Family, Golden Girls -

Something about these makes me feel gross and dirty while watching them. Just something about the way they look and are physically presented (lighting, etc). Strangely, Sanford and Son is one of my all time favorites and I don't get this vibe from it, even though other people have told me they do.

Brady Bunch -

Can't watch it. Never liked it.

Titanic -

Don't care.

The Departed -

Couple of problems here. First is, hey, let's just kill everybody. That'll make a movie hardcore. Second, I can't buy DiCaprio in these kinds of roles for some reason. I still see him acting all potato in Gilbert Grape or as a kid. He just strikes me as a wuss.

i've actually heard this several times (and I might have even done it a bit)
4 episodes seems to be the magic number - get through the 4th episode and you're home free

Independence Day is a steaming pile of donkey crap. Actually, most movies made between, say, 1995 and 1998 are generally terrible. Hollywood recovered with an awesome year in 1999 and then rebounded in general afterwards, but there really is a terrible black hole of quality after 1994 and before 1999.

Rocky IV is a cartoon of a movie that significantly derails what, to that point, had been a fairly realistic franchise. Rocky V goes straight into the toilet. Both Rocky Balboa and Creed are quite good, though, so it recovered.

Every Rambo movie after First Blood completely misses the point of First Blood and the John Rambo character and it's hard to watch them because of it. You go from a fairly serious examination of PTSD and the treatment of troops post Vietnam to totally off the walls brainless action movies.

Terminator 2 is a movie that has aged terribly and is inferior to the original Terminator in every way except budget and special effects.

Got talking with a friend the other day about Rocky IV and came across some blog where a guy had measured the amount of actual scripted movie acting time to the amount of musical montages and flashback scenes, and it's really eye-opening. The last hour of that movie is 50% montage. There are 8, no kidding, EIGHT, montages in that stupid thing.

By comparison Rocky 5 was practically plot-heavy. No kidding.
