Closer look at Kellen Moore in the NFCCG today (2 Viewers)

Jalen Hurts has even taken a step back in terms of progression that his own WR’s were disgruntled this season.
Hurts in 2024 just had his career high completion percentage, yards per attempt, and passer rating.

Who were the disgruntled players? You're not talking about the "AJ Brown reading a book" on the sideline, are you?

I agree, but as stated previously he failed in Chargers for his next stop and hasn’t done anything in Philly. Philly has always had a great OL and they added Barkley this past offseason. They’re strictly riding the talent of the running game and haven’t excelled at anything outside of that.

There were a large number of injuries when he was with the Chargers including losing Hebert for the season. As far as Philly, isn't using the talent you have what you want a OC to do? Does he need to run the Run and Shoot while Barkley sits on the bench to prove he's a good OC?

Makes sense but why didn’t Dallas hire Moore? Isn’t he supposed to be the reason why Mike McCarthy had any success..
Since they waited until after the window to request interviews from coaches that are still in the playoffs because they couldnt come to an agreement with McCarthy, they were at a huge disadvantage in the interview process. That's most likely why they went in house and they're getting absolutely lamblasted for it.

With Moore emerging as the perceived front runner, it makes me wonder if MM was ever really an option now that there are rumblings that he plans to sit this cycle out and take a year off. The discussion with MM, could have been part of the information gathering/vetting process for Moore.

Loomis has to know Rizzi isn’t an option after the DA disaster. I saw an analysis from 2021 (forgot where) that showed how internal promotions have a high failure rate, with the creator saying he thought Freddie Kitchens would be the last of those mistakes in the NFL.

Hiring Rizzi would be trying that historically failing strategy a second time in a row.
If they hired Rizzi for one year, then that would, let us know that we intend to bridge him if he fails. I’d be ok with this. However. if we hired him for 3-4 years the fans would be distraught. Therefore, IMO, you have to choose MM. if we end up with Rizzi, then that means he’s our only choice.

RebelMax also said that MM had people lobbying for the Saints job and Underhill recently said that McCarthy is still interested in the job, but if he does take the year off, it's likely more because he didn't get one of the two jobs he wanted or was a candidate for as was forced to sit out a year. I know he has sat out a year before, but it would seem unlikely it would be by choice at age 61.

But, while Moore may be the top choice at this point, it seems unlikely that McCarthy would be behind Kafka, Weaver, or Rizzi.

They would have to be really desperate to hire Rizzi on a one year contract. I'd rather just take a shot with Kafka or Weaver before I would do that.

I think one of the attractive things about Moore is that he has run a lot of West Coast concepts with the Cowboys which would be a good foundation to get the most out of Carr. He then goes to Philly and is running a lot of RPO stuff that might be the best way to maximize what the current college game (or Rattler) is providing. He has a good background to get the most out of either.

I've been thinking he's the top choice for awhile.
Right. But does he have a type A personality that can be the face of a team. Otherwise, you’re DA 2.0.

At this point, I just want a HC to be hired.

I like MM for the track record and team/culture building aspect.

I like Moore for the potential and track record as a modern OC. Moore can also use the best playmaker available in the 2025 draft who should be available at 1.9. I think he'd focus on building a mauling O-line and he's seen first hand the benefits of a dominant D-line.

Kafka isn't as appealing to me as his claim to fame is he worked with Mahomes.

Rizzi has the backing of some players, but we've seen that doesn't work out as well as some think it would. Rizzi has had the benefit of seeing everything done wrong the last few years and being in a position to make changes, he might be the guy for the job.

I'm not sure having play calling taken away by a veteran HC is a good indicator of future success. Sean Payton was stripped of his play calling by a veteran HC.

Not just him but this scenario has occured more times then just Payton, where they were stripped of play calling and went on to be a successful head coach. I’m drawing a blank but I’m sure it’s not hard to look up. Wasn’t Shananhan one of em? Wasn’t he stripped of play calling in Atlanta?

I’m not sure I Like naming him here. The real truth is Shanahan’s style of offense wasn’t working well consistently and the NFL changed and his style of offense became prime with minor changes.

I don't really know, but I do know that he was the starting QB at Boise State and I think he actually has more wins than any college QB. I would think to be the starting QB at the best of the mid-major programs you would have to have some leadership skills. That alone makes him better than DA, but I'm not sure if he has more than that.

Wake me up when the Dumpster Diving is over.

I can see McCarthy's agent saying... "Mike, Dallas did nothing for you to get to Canton, so care-taking or failing in New Orleans would be a career-ender. That team is rungs lower than the Cowboys were when you started there. And now your competition may be that annoying OC that you fired because he effed up three playoff games. Do you want to get beat out by that guy or even have to beat that guy?"

NFL teams, protect your dumpsters. Mickey's on the loose again.
