Comic Con Talk (Renamed since LA Comic Con can't get it together) (19 Viewers)

Dang it! I'm just now seeing this. I was wondering where you and Sun were at in the crowd. I should have been checking for the boards more often. I'm going to have a full con experience report soon.

I was everywhere, bouncing between all theee floors. According to my watch I got in almost 11 miles yesterday. I didn't notice it until I stopped moving, then it all hit at once.

Also, weirdest part of yesterday: I was sticking my head in that room on floor 2 with the wrestling ring in it to see what was going on, and next thing I know I'm signed up for a service to get an estimate to install leaf protectors on my gutters.

I don't even own my own home. I'm still not sure what happened. That lady made a hard sell. They've called me THREE times today. Damn.

Did you figure out what the wrestling thing was?
I didn’t understand

Did you see Heath Slater? He was there pretty much all day yesterday.

So after everything was over, I spent a few minutes talking with the guy taking down the A/V equipment. He's a full-time Fan Expo employee (heading to Portland next) and we got into the topic of GalaxyCon in July. Apparently, the business strategy of the guy who owns it is to put a show in every American location that Fan Expo exists. If that's true, I'm not certain if that's sound strategy. We shall see. He should definitely fit in New Orleans because the event is during that dead season after Essence, but before football season.

They were doing actual wrestling in there, I think. It wasn't going on while I was up there but the schedule posted outside implied that was what was going to happen.

No, I somehow missed him completely. And I was there literally all day. Crazy.

Yeah, that's a strange strategy. We'll see how it works out for him.

They did a little bit of everything in there. There was actual wrestling (Bizarro Wrestling is an actual promotion). They also allowed some folks to take pictures near the ring, but no one was allowed in from what I saw and definitely no wrestling moves allowed.

They also had wrestling trivia sessions.

So from my side of things visiting with guests and talking with staff, while they were happy with the event, things were somber. With the wildfires in California and severe weather coming from the North hitting plenty of places, they feared more cancellations (a good bit was announced Thursday afternoon when I got my last alert from PR). Some, like Jeremy Adams (writer of the Flash and Green Lantern) left L.A. with the expectation that things were fine because things were going in a different direction only to find out not so much after he arrived (family's fine). Stephanie Williams (who wrote Nubia) was scared of being trapped in Raleigh due to the weather, but got out just before they started cancelling things. Chicago is home for her.

Things could've been really worse from a guest standpoint since so many live in the L.A. area.
