Comic Con Talk (Renamed since LA Comic Con can't get it together) (1 Viewer)

I'll be damned. Our boy @bonnjer is published...

Thanks, GA. Might have to start writing up more detailed reports for future cons. Weird seeing my stuff on a website. :hihi:

No where near Fan Expo (but there's still time). Hopefully the list grows...

You going to Louisiana CC in March? I'm guessing probably not, but figured I'd ask.

Yeah, LACC's fall off seems pretty complete at this point. That guest lineup is just sad yet again. And like you said, a ton of repeats from last year.

I wonder if when they split the company the other guy got the better contacts. In general is looks like VXV shows have better guests than the Humble Entertainment ones. Mississippi Comic Con has only announced a handful of guests so far but Ray Park, Jonathan Frakes, and Priscilla Presley alone are literally better than anything LACC has mustered the past two years.

Jackson? ugh

Last time I went was maybe the year after the pandemic. It looked like it expanded out some. But it's location just isn't appealable to get me to go.

I haven't been to Lafayette however since before the pandemic. I planned to go that year before it was cancelled. Now they have nothing of interest for me, even from a press aspect. The majority of guests and vendors are the same every year because they live in the area. Matter of fact, you saw a bit of them a few weeks ago at Fan Expo. They'll have the same stuff in Lafayette. That's unfortunate.

Lafayette is pretty cool
Jackson is the dystopian hellscape many accuse New Orleans of being

Lafayette has great places to eat. Hell, I used to have no problem traveling the extra 20 minutes or so to go to Pat's. Are they still owned by the same folks?

I pass through Jackson on the way to Memphis. That's it. I've even found a back way to get to Vicksburg.

Shirt, why couldn't LACC get Frakes? I would absolutely love that. I'm going to get the Blue Ranger's auto to add to the collection my son and I started, along with buying a few things from the vendors, but the lineup is just not there, once again. At this point, I'm ready for Geek'd Con to start announcing.

They don't have the capacity to. The rep from Humble pretty much admitted to such in his own postings.

How many left?

I'm concerned they're going to be in a similar predicament. I hope I'm wrong. But, they've also started a habit of having some of the same guests every year outside the few celebs. It's like Sun mentioned. The larger promoters are beginning to choke out the smaller, regional promotions.

Need Blue, a Yellow (could have got her before, but didn't because there was someone else I was after at that show), and Pink (could have got that, too, but not Amy Jo Johnson). Got Red, Green, and Black.

Good you got Jason David Frank before he passed.

Geek'd Con has always punched a little bit above its weight and has historically got some guests that are pretty decent gets for a con that size. They had Michael Rooker at the absolute peak of GotG popularity, for example.

But this past year was kind of light in terms of big name guests, which I heard more than a little grumbling about. And they also did this weird hybrid sports card convention thing where they brought in a bunch of old athletes to do card signings upstairs. I have no idea how that worked out for them financially, but I know talk on the show floor was that that money probably should have gone to actual guests for the nerd convention and not towards something with comparatively little overlap.

Also, they've been radio silent on social media for months, which is atypical. Not sure what that is about.
