Competing offers for Armstead (2 Viewers)

It would be great if we could keep Armstead, but really...breaking the bank on a guy who is injured as much as he is doesn't make sense to me.

On pure talent and ability he is one of the best in the league though. I hope he stays on a reasonable contract.

I think he'll give us a chance to match it. If it's top OT money, we'll let him go, if it's reasonable we'll keep him.

Our offense really is going to stink this season.

With each day my hopes of us addressing the WR room in a meaningful way are dissipating. But it's hard to sign WRs when you don't have a QB.

They may not want to meet Winston's number but it really seems like cutting off the nose to spite the face at this point. Move off your number so this can be done and the Saints can sign a WR worth something. At this point all the good TEs are gone...sigh. Not much longer before we're looking at the Merediths and Kevin Whites of the world again.

Bad teams move off of their numbers for desperation signings and we are not there yet. A healthy Kamara and O Line moves the needle far more than Winston does and the front office knows that.

True, but I think it's limiting our ability to talk with WRs. Maybe a little movement, LOL

Not a dumb question. I think the voidable years muddies this picture..will they count him as a cut or a true FA?
Voidable years don't keep player from being treated as a free agent for compensation purposes. So he would help us with comp picks next year

Armstead has been in Miami all day and no announcement has been made. Are the Saints still in the hunt?

The only thing that irks me is that he was willing to stay for Watson…. Why not be willing to stay for another quarterback? Is his determined the direction of the franchise what we should expect from other free agents?
Did you see any mention of him only wanting to play with Watson, or was it just simply stated that he was waiting to see if the Saints signed Watson? That tells me he may have possibly wanted to play with Winston, not necessarily Watson. Of course, it could be the other way around, also, but we don’t know because he didn’t say.

I didn’t read any “official” manuscript. I did read that he was calling off any free agent visits to see if Watson landed at New Orleans. Seeing how he is in Miami right now, I could make the assumption that he was pro Watson and the fact that the Saints not signing him made him open up his free agent itinerary.

Legit WRs are basically gone already… Landry is really the only one left, and he feels like a loooong shot to sign with the Saints.

Will Fuller is a walking injury… Odell won’t be ready until maybe mid-season… Julio is washed…

…and now Gerald Everett, the last viable receiving TE has gone to the Chargers.

Snooze you lose… and it appears the Saints have snost and lost. 🤷🏻‍♂️
TA is coming back to NOLA without a contract from Miami. Hopefully they can get him locked up here. Saints should look at trading for Cooks. Might be able to get him for a 6th or 5th, which would be worth it. If he survives the year and leaves in free agency, he could qualify for a comp pick in 2024.

That makes sense. I’m not sure what his QB preference was without him specifically saying it, but I guess I can’t blame him for wanting to test the waters either way. Both sides have to do what’s best for them, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he tries to cash in on possibly his last contract. If the decision
Is heavily influenced by playing with a star QB, I’m surprised he’s looking at Miami. Maybe he was going to be willing to take a hometown discount with Watson. Who knows.

It could be Terrell Armstead and the Dolphins weren't on the same page with the money.
Or it could be that Terrell was turned off by how Miami organization is ran. Who knows.

But personally, there are several NFL teams that are just poorly ran such as Raiders, Falcons, Dolphins, Browns, Jets, Panthers, Texans, Seahawks, Jags, Lions, Bears, Cowboys, Packers and Titans (two of the NFL's biggest underachievers), Vikings, and Commanders (formerly Redskins). Why would any decent player go to any of these teams especially over a team like the Saints that has a recently, long history of winning.
