Could Siemien Be a Lot Better With a Full Week of Starter Reps? [Mod edit] (1 Viewer)

My aunt (whose never lived in NOLA) is a lifelong Broncos fan. When I asked her her take on Siemian she basically said "He's ok as a game manager type."

No he is the typical come off the bench backup that the other team didn’t watch any game film on and prepared for Jameis Winston. Now once a team game plans for Trevor then you will likely see a different story. I could be wrong, but we see this happen all the time. Backup QB looks for a game or 2

If Taysom returns to active status this week, I'm hoping Siemian gets the start. I think he will be better will a full week of starter reps, and if Taysom is named the starter, you're essentially taking another player off the field. All the different things he does for us would be subtracted if he were the starter...

I appreciate the optimism, but living in Colorado I saw enough of Simien to know a week of practice as the starter won't fix him. He's not a starting QB in this league. It would be a miracle if he suddenly transforms into a starting qb with any semblance of consistency.

How many thought Jameis was a lost cause? Sean Payton has the knack of identifying diamonds in the rough. I would bet that Trevor is not the same QB now that he was two and three years ago.

Siemian may get better, but what we saw yesterday is in line with his career averages. He's a 59% passer with a QBR average of 80, that throws slightly more TDs than interceptions. It could be the Denver offensive scheme wasn't conducive to better. Certainly Winston has gotten better in QBR and TD to interception ratio, and slightly worse in completion percentage, but overall better. Maybe that'll happen to Siemian as well.

I don't think that's the case. It's not like he took them apart or anything.
But he did make some plays when we needed them. He looks competent. (Except that funky side arm thing.)

I could have sworn Shefter said Taysom will be cleared this week to play. Having said that, I actually wouldn't mind seeing Siemian start and keeping Taysom in his role. He just brings more to the table in that position.

I'm ready to get behind the next QB whoever it is. Trevor, Taysom, Book, or other. This team has so much talent all over the field and we can do some damage without an all world QB. We did it with Teddy. We did it with Taysom and we were doing it with Winston.

The drop off from Brees to Teddy or Brees to Taysom was way more significant than the drop off from Winston to Siemian/Hill. SP has overcome greater obstacles than this.

You got it. I'm always a glass half full kind of guy so I'm not freaking out about this thing. It's not like the old days when we knew our goose was cooked if something happened to Drew. Drew was the offense. Hell most years he was the whole team. Just think about what our record would've been had Mark Brunell, Chase Daniels, or Luke McCown been thrust into the starting role early in the season.

Like the 2012 season with that awful defense. Drew miraculously drug that team kicking and screaming to a 7-9 finish. Without Drew? Yikes. We maybe win 3 games.

There is a reason Payton had him on our Roster last season and this one. He saw something and I trust Payton way more than I do the Denver Bronco's in how to use Trevor. Plus he has the best Offensive line in football to block for him. He may not be the long term answer but he is a serviceable starter in this offense.
