Anthony was a Ryan pick that year. It was the 1rd pick we got from Seattle as part of the JG trade. After the draft I remember Payton saying there was no one on the board he wanted at that spot and that no other team did either so couldn’t trade down. He then told Ryan it was his pick to make for the Def. I have always believed that was a major reason Ryan got fired after that season.Correction, Stanley Arnoux.

Because they wanted Cam clones and it never dawned on them that Cam is a generational player.Good lord did we miss on DEs the last few years
Mark Fields? He reminds me of that middle linebacker we drafted awhile ago out of Illinois that everyone was high on because he was a freak athlete. Martez Wilson or something
No, martez WilsonMark Fields?
Victor Butler was a free agent the team signed from Dallas in 2013 because they were moving to a 4-3, the Saints were moving to a 3-4, and he’d be a significantly undersized 4-3 DE. He tore his ACL in his first Saints training camp then was released during his second one.Was victor butler the one out of wake forest? Wait actually I think that was something like Stanley Arcineaux or something, and I remember Kirai Fort maybe?
I’m still in absolute disbelief that we took Foskey while Keion White was still on the board.Victor Butler was a free agent the team signed from Dallas in 2013 because they were moving to a 4-3, the Saints were moving to a 3-4, and he’d be a significantly undersized 4-3 DE. I’m not sure what the vision was for Khairi Fortt. I think they wanted to move him to 3-4 OLB, but he was injured during training camp then waived.
Arnoux was a 2009 draftee at linebacker. Another one for whom I’m not sure what the vision was, but he played middle linebacker in college and Jon Vilma had that spot locked down already, having been brought over in 2008.
I’m not a draft aficionado so I don’t like to do the “who could they have taken instead” game much. It’s just unfortunate that injuries they suffered cause them to not work out. Nobody gets it right 100% of the time.
He might swerve bend dat corner wooahhFoskeys issue is he's stiff as a board. Quickness is irrelevant if you can't bend the corner.
Between those two we might have gotten a full season of playThe Payton Davenport era is finally over. 3 first round picks gone and 2 training tables freed up.
Kikaha tore his ACL in 2016 (his third ACL tear going back to college) then had a gnarly ankle injury in 2017.HAU'OLI KIKAHA
Was better than Davenport and Turner I don’t know why he never really got the opportunity
a player that got a knack for causing turnovers you keep
Ok I always wondered what happened to himKikaha tore his ACL in 2016 (his third ACL tear going back to college) then had a gnarly ankle injury in 2017.
By then the defense was primarily playing 4-2-5 and he was a decent third-down pass rush DE but he wasn’t the same after the ACL tear and the busted ankle all but wrapped it up.
