not true. If you "pack" a cigarette, there will be about an eighth of an inch of empty space at the end.
WTH kind of cigarettes are y'all smoking. My sheets are packed in as tight as they're gonna get.

If you don't tap them, then what happens? How did I smoke 25 years worth of cigs without EVER tapping? How did I pull that off šŸ˜³

I buy them by the carton. Conducted my own experiment. Identify the tapped one. #IgotTimeToday

I quit smoking back in 2004 or 2005. We called it "packing" the cigarettes and we didn't tap them. Before removing the plastic, would smack the top side of the pack pretty hard against the palm of the other hand 10-20 times and there was a fairly sizeable difference between packed and unpacked cigarettes. When packed, there was a gap between the end of the paper and where the tobacco started

The reason for it was that the smoldering tip (the cherry) of the cigarette had a greater chance of falling off the cigarette completely when tapping the ashes off if the cigarette was unpacked. Didn't have that issue with well packed cigs

I see. A residual ritual from back in the day šŸš¬

Absolutely. I consider it a necessity for me these days (long story), but it's not a general requirement like farting or something.
I like farting. It just makes life a little more interesting when seeing my family's reactions to particularly loud and smelly farts.

as someone who rolls my own smokes.. packing them and how you pack them makes all the difference. just sayin'
