David Carr to visit Saints... (1 Viewer)

Pretty funny ... when I read the thread title, I actually said that out loud.

Going into last season, I thought Carr would be solid in Carolina ... thought that he was bad in Houston because of lack of protection. Come to find out that Houston's protection was so bad because of Carr.

If we sign him, I've got some faith that Payton and Brees could help him out a bit. But I don't really want to take the risk of him just plain stinking it up. One of the reason for our low sack totals is because Drew gets rid of the ball so quickly. At times, Carr seems like he never gets rid of the ball.

Agreed...he went to Carolina and stunk it up pretty good. I think the Saints have a few better options out there. Not many but a few....

At the risk of stating the obvious, he's a quarterback who last played for a division rival. So maybe the Saints take this meeting whether or not they are seriously interested in singing him, for, ahem, "investigational" purposes, if nothing else?

I like the idea of a QB younger than 40 being Brees's backup. I think we need more than a QB that will be here for 1-2 years. I am not sure that Carr is that guy, but I know Brunell is long in the tooth(in football years).

I liked Carr till last season. I thought he would be better in Carolina. Rather, he looked awful. Stay away.

Even if he gets on it better be a league minimum contract. Let him push Palko in T/C. Nothing wrong with some competition.

Talk about two different worlds: with Palko you know he's gonna get rid of the ball. Where to? Who knows. With Carr you know he's going to hold onto it too long.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why not Gray????????

Honestly, David Carr is a better QB than Jaime Martin to me. But I wouldnt trust him in any other role than a back up QB.

But yes indeed, why not bring in Quinn Gray. The kid lit it up subbing for Gerrard last season, he did it againts us. I'd love to see us get Gray.

All Helll naw, not that arrogant jerk. :omg2:

like BA pointed to.. yes we gave up one of the fewest sack amounts over 2 years.. but you put carr back there and it would show that the oline isn't as good as advertised.

He's a pretty acurate QB, but he takes way too long to make a decision, wihch I don't think would work in our offense. But if we can help him with his decision making he could be a solid backup.

This falls under "what can it hurt to bring him into camp?" for me. Given the current backup QB situation, why not take a look? It doesn't seem likely he'd get some deal that prevents the team from easily parting ways if he doesn't impress.
