David Carr to visit Saints... (1 Viewer)

basing an opinion on Tyler from two or three plays in one pre-seaon game is like basing an opinion on Bulger from waiting to get one single snap.

The only way I would welcome this signing is if he is being brought in to be 3rd string.

This does not fall under the "what can it hurt" umbrella because it CAN hurt if he is our backup QB.

At least the crowd in the Dome wont be yelling for "more" when he's in the game. :)

pjgary, no offense, genereally like your posts.. but please fix it , it makes the board difficult to read.

I'm not a fan of David Carr, even for a looksie. I mean "David Carr disease" is freaking named after the guy even though he wasn't even the first or most prominent one with it. I don't see how he fits in.

Shame that Payton couldn't have gotten ahold of him after just a couple of years in the league, His time in Houston basically ruined his potential of ever becoming a good QB. He's now an old vet with lots of bad habits that are hard to unlearn. He holds the ball far too long which absolutely will not work in Payton's three step drop, quick read and quick throw pass oriented Offense, He lacks the ability to improvise or make things happen if his first or second reads aren't there. He's a statue which has resulted in his getting killed behind his OLs (and I hate to break to you he'd get killed behind the Saints OL too. Brees amazing ability to make quick decisions make them look better than they are).

Carr needed to be sat down behind a smart vet and his game dissected by a good QB coach. His game needed to torn down and rebuilt from the ground up. Now he'll be lucky to have a Todd Bouman like career as a backup. I get the whole...."he's worth bringing into TC" thing. He's younger, healthier than guys like Brunell or Trent Green but sadly I think it's too late to salvage his career.......

for the love of...

I mean, have they not tried to get Bledsoe out of retirement yet?!?!? This backup QB search is becoming a horror movie that won't end.

Once a QB loses confidence in himself; once he has lost his mental fortitude, there is no coming back. I feel for Carr and Harrington, but at some point they have become all that they are going to be. This isn't a situation like Trent Green or Rich Gannon where they have bounced around until coming into the right fit at the right time. These guys are jaded, much like a sexually abused child who grows into a woman with intamacy issues and need for much therapy. It's not necessarily a fualt thing, just the fact that some things leave too big a stain on the soul to completely overcome and forget about. Am I giving up all hope for such individuals? No, I am just saying that being the next guy or the next team means that you feal those effects as well. We should pass.

What are you talking about? Trent Green would have been great. Brunell is a fine option as well and still on the table. I'm not a Carr fan but i'm not sure anythings reached "horror movie" proportions.
