David Carr to visit Saints... (3 Viewers)

Look , this kid has talent, drew will show him the proper way to behave, he will learn an offense and like it, he will have a good line and learn how to get rid of the ball quicker and could develop in time. He has has some bad situations but he holds the ball too long, needs to learn the offense better where it is second nature, get him, and coach him up.

did i miss something? did we sign him already?

Any talent at all + Sean Payton = good QB.

Even SP can't turn some people around. Carr seems like a good guy but his confidence and his ability have been questionable.

Yeah, Trent Green would have been great BUT HE DIDN'T SIGN WITH US!!!

Marc Brunell, you've got to be kidding me, he was behind Jason Campbell and Todd Collins!!! That's TODD COLLINS!!! I don't even know if he's been in a game since he had the labrum surgery.

And David Carr is a hideous joke. I could walk my dog and do my taxes during the time it takes him to decide where to lob the ball!!!

What happens if Drew gets hurt?!?! Are we going to go with David Carr or Marc Brunell and actually expect to do anything but suck?!?!

I was almost swayed by your post but I found the lack of exclamation points too disappointing.

I don't mind the guy. He played with the Panthers and with the Texans he did more running than Aaron Brooks. Wasn't he the most sacked QB for a few years straight?

He could be a good QB that just hasn't had a good opportunity or good coaching and I feel safer with a camp battle than I do with just Martin.

Payton knows his QBs.

people are smokin somethin
david carr's got talent
good backup

after the carolina year i know he is the worst quarterback in the league including backups....alle he can do is scramble a bit .... but he has the worst pocket presence , accuracy , decision making ability in the league .... maybe a rookie is worse.

i want guys like , gray , brunnell ( trent green if he hadnt sing with the rams ) for our backups because martin is methusalem

Both Brunell and Carr are subpar back ups. I have absolutely no confidence in any of them. This said I have historically always liked Carr but unfortunstely saw too much of him play last season. That was way worse than Harrington which says a lot. So Payton please pass both QB's.

This says it all right here. He had a ton of talent coming out of college. Years of torture behind the Texans line and Panthers line last year has led to a talented QB with low confidence and bad mechanics.

Sitting behind Brees and learning under SP will allow him to build his confidence and become a good backup QB that isn't one hit from a coffin or applying for his AARP card.

Everyone on this board knows that the Saints will go as far as Brees can take them and JM wasn't the answer if something was to happen to Brees. A rejuventated Carr could be serviceable if called on once he gets his mechanics fixed and his confidence back.

I say bring him in, it won't cost much. Another one of those low risk, high reward deals the FO likes to do.

From a recent Don Banks article:

"On the theory that everyone deserves a second and a third chance, the Giants are kicking the tires on signing David Carr as their sought-after upgrade at backup quarterback behind Eli Manning. I know Giants quarterbacks coach Chris Palmer was Carr's offensive coordinator in Houston from 2002 to '05, but I'm not sure there's a bigger reclamation job in the NFL right now than Carr, the No. 1 overall pick in 2002.

Carr made four starts and appeared in six games in Carolina last year, where he started the season as Jake Delhomme's backup. But in the end, he couldn't hold off either 44-year-old Vinny Testaverde or rookie Matt Moore, an undrafted collegiate free agent. Panthers coach John Fox acknowledged that he wouldn't play Carr at home late in the season due to the ferocious booing that the former Fresno State quarterback was subjected to."
