Defense wins championships (2 Viewers)

Sometimes defense wins championships. That Tampa team with Brad Johnson, and that Balt team with Trent Dilfer

It's a stacked roster on both sides of the ball. Jalen is the first Mahomes peer to beat him in the biggest game. Yeah, Burrow beat him in the playoffs, but they didn't win the ring. Brady did it, but he wasn't his peer.

Brady was absolutely his peer. Maybe not from his generation but both being starting QBs makes them peers.

Mahomes was rattled by their 2nd drive of the game. I would have never thought in a million years that was possible.
Oline was instantly penetrated multiple tackles getting to the QB at less than 2.5 secs exposed Mahomes ability to run in circles. This game was over after KC finished reviewing film of the Eagles D front. We really need a dominant D-lineman pick at 9. We need to build from a position group. Good for us, that we can go BPA (if DL is NA) as we dont have any dominant position groups yet.

I disagree; one guy was on the tail end of his career, and the other was starting. Drew, Peyton, and Eli were Brady's peers. But the primary point is that Hurts is only the second guy to beat Mahomes in the big game.

Being a peer has nothing to do with tail end of your career or not.

If you have two NFL starting QBs in the same game those guys are peers.

Yea the defense played great. I mean their offense put up 40, but that's not what wins championships.
I mean, 14 of those came directly from interceptions.. Jalen had 2 TD's and 1 INT. He threw for 221 yards. So, yeah, the defense definitely played a huge role in their lead. More importantly, it changed how the Chief's played on offense. They were forced to abandon the run and became one-dimensional.

It looked like the Eagles ran a lot of 4 man fronts last night..

We didn't need a player of Baun's talent on our team...
DA's departing gift!

They did but I do like that they are very flexible with their front. Sweat is listed as a SLB but was more or less playing DE last night. They change it up depending on who they play. But, a lot of that defense is the matchup zone they play which allows their DBs to keep their eyes in the backfield to make plays on the ball and stop running QBs. Then again, talent helps. They found Sweat in the 4th and Milton Williams in the 3rd.

Let’s be REAL.
The Chiefs have a 💩 tastic OLine
They don’t have a #1 or a #2 WR
Their TE is long in the tooth and may hang up his cleats
They don’t have a run game
They literally have nothing on offense.

The Eagles have the best roster from Top to bottom. This was a mismatch.
The Eagles were the better team by a wide margin.
Huge props to the Eagles for handling their business like they should have.

Plus, Jalen CAN say that about the defense bc he has the BEST RB, a bonafide #1 WR, and bonafide #2 WR, and a good TE.

We don’t have the luxury of having a QB like Jalen, we don’t have a #1 WR. Heck our WRs are not even a Smith. Yes we need skill position players. So remember that come draft time

We also don't have the Eagles talent on the OL, QB, DL, LB, CB, or Safety. Basically we need players at every position. Which is why we should take BPA regardless of if it is on D, on O, a playmaker, or a fat guy.

Right... and KC has had a top 10 defense (top 5 in points allowed) all year... It didn't help them much in the biggest game of the year against a loaded offense that can hang a 40 burger on you, and attack you at all levels.... Also KC's offense has been living on crazy close wins all year.... That luck ran out, when they faced a front 4 that could exploit their weakness on the Oline.

So you are saying we should draft fat guys on the OL and DL so that we can exploit teams with our front 4 on defense and not get exploited by great DLs. Makes sense to me.

Step 1... Score 40 points.

Step 2... See step 1 to win games... Crazy but points actually win games... who knew?

Step 3.... Score points first then we'll talk about fat guys to help you score more, and make them score less.

You know as well as I do that the offense really only scored 26 points and that 14 points were either directly the defense or 99% the defense.

You are aware that OLs can help you score points?

Anyway, you said it not me. For all the Chiefs are, their down fall is a terrible OL and a DL that could not get to Hurts even when he was throwing deep balls.

And my real point is that we need help at every position including the lines and playmakers. So we should take BPA and not force a pick to be a playmaker.

Top 5 scoring defense for the Chiefs made no difference because their offense is basically equal to the Saints in talent with the exception of QB.

At the end of the day, simply draft BPA regardless of position and after a few years you'll wind up with a roster that looks like Philly's.

You are talking about 1 game... The average points scored by the winning team in this years' playoffs.... was 32ppg for the winner.

I am aware... We have invested tons of capital and high picks on OL and DL over the past decade... It's time for those investments to pay off.... and it's time to invest high picks and capital on guys that can help us score 10+ more points per game on average... in the form of highly skilled cheap rookie deal playmakers.

It's the same point I have been making for like the past 5 seasons.

And sure we need help everywhere.... I'd like that help to begin on the scoreboard.

Also, every single starting skill player on the Eagles roster - Including QB, RB, WR1, WR2, WR3, and TE1... were all day 1 and 2 picks...

All in the top 55 picks in their respective drafts.

The Chiefs last night only had only one first down and didn't go beyond midfield before the halftime. Also, Reid stop running the ball and tried to have Mahomes take over the game. Eagles defense was ready and was also dominating the game. Defense helped win the game last night but the Eagles offense also showed up and contributed. I takes both to consicide and win a championship.
