According to Garner’s dad Flint, Demario and Gardner have been friends for a while now. My wife’s whole family are enjoying the ride with Gardner. We were up there Monday and she was wearing her pink #9 jersey and they were giving her a hard time about it but it was all fun. Chris, Gardner’s uncle said that Gardner’s favorite qb had been Drew for a long time and he hoped to get to meet him Sunday.

I don’t know I thought I was the only one. I only have a connection through my wife. My wife and I grew up 200 miles apart and we really only met by accident. But lately we have found some things that are strange. For example Flint and Chris Minshew, Gardner’s dad and uncle attend a Methodist Church the pastor of their church grew up a block from my parents home and directly across the street from my grandparent. It may not mean much to some people but it’s pretty weird for me.

I tried hard to get some tickets for the game this weekend. Most of his family are Saints fans that are just cheering him to have a good game but I think they secretly want the Saints to win the game. So I was out of luck on getting tickets. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets mentioned during the game at some point. The biggest thing I’m taking away from all of this craziness is that Gardner really hoped the Saints would pick him in the draft.
After saying all of that don’t get me wrong. He’s my wife’s cousin but not mine. I bleed black and gold just like you guys. That family crap goes out the window come Sunday.

I once stepped off of an elevator and ran smack into a fella in a suit at the Courtyard on Staten Island, NY. There was some charity event being hosted at the hotel and there were lots of well-dressed folks. The guy looked vaguely familiar but couldn't place him at the time. Later that evening it hit me, it was Phil Simms. New York royalty himself.

He's definitely not "hate-able"! Gardner was my pick for Brees successor a few years ago. (I like to make hot takes on future Saints, just kinda my thing..) I saw him in a Wazzu game, thought he was really good, then heard he's from Brandon. So instantly I had a feeling he grew up a Saints fan. I grew up in NOLA, but I kinda have that hometown love/best wishes for him. That said,
