DA would have been fired on Monday, Loomis just wanted give him the same respect given to PC and finish the season before the team moved on, it's a classy move to not throw your coaches to the wolves and though the action made fans feel better, the team was not better off because of it, but it was an action that made fans feel heard.

What is common knowledge is that ML nor Tom Benson were ever in favor of firing a HC MID-SEASON. It's been reported by Underhill that he thought that ML was going to fire DA at the end of the season. Yes DA needed to go. Looking back just what did firing DA mid-season accomplish? All it did was give Rizzi and maybe Brian Young an audition. Woods was abysmal as DC. The D played worse after DA left except in the 1st game or so.

The going over ML's head is kind of exaggerated. ML said himself that they came to a consensus on firing DA , not this fantasy that Mrs B. came in like a stormtrooper and demanded DA be fired on the spot. Firing DA mid-season really accomplished little, he would have been gone on black Monday

The fans wanted him fired last year. Classy in a wins-loss league is irrelevant. Mick was hoping that Allen would turn it around, or he would have fired him last year.

Expected. Loomis is patient, he likely would have fired him, but not in middle of season. It’s not, never been his MO and though I was happy it happens, it absolutely could have waited till the end of the year because the biggest culprit to the season was injuries.

Those injuries affected Rizzi just like DA.

Now Rizzi did come in and make some changes that Allen stubbornly didn’t, so his firing was deserved but it could have waited because it’s the respectful way to go about things

Injuries weren’t an excuse they were just a fact and he recognized that.

Couldn't agree more. All firing DA mid-season did was give Rizzi and Brian Young and Woods an audition. Young did well, Woods was pretty awful and Rizzi needs experience on the defensive or offensive side of the ball I think. I hope he takes a good college HC job because he may be a good HC but I don't think he's ready to be one in the NFL

That patience that ML and FO has will be a major enticement for a HC candidate along with giving the new HC all the tools to be successful

Allen is a good guy, but he didn't belong as a head coach. Glazer looks bored listening to Dennis.

This was a lot more than just Gayle & Mickey not seeing eye to eye. Ms. Benson chose to spend some time having important confidential discussions with several players in order to see how they personally felt the relationships were going between their teammates and DA. These players must have given the impression that DA did not command the same respect as say a guy like Rizzi.

Gayle saw that more had to be considered than just wins & losses. At some point those players convinced her that Allen was not the motivator that her team needed going forward.

Respect? Uh, sorry. But the NFL is a business. Dennis Allen was bad for Gayle Benson's business so she handled it since her manager wouldn't. If anything, I respect her more for that.

It was known. But because many assumed she wasn't that involved, until she made this move, there are some that claimed obviously Loomis fired him, they just had Gayle write a letter for 'optics'.
