Derek Carr practiced today. (1 Viewer)

Prior to that Jimmy Graham TD our offense hadn’t scored for 30+ quarters and the last 2 TDs were Thrown by Jameis

I think After Further Review said it best , he’s the empty yards emperor.

Don’t mistake activity with productivity
if you dont get to the redzone, you also dont score

Its possible that he threw the ball away in frustration and blamed Olave. Thats something that happened in the moment that he was made aware of, then he moved on. Did he probably make a mistake? YES. But you're saying because he made this mistake, he's also a vindictive birch that fakes injuries to "show" them. Hes not trying to get elected, hes trying to win a Super bowl because he plays NFL QB. Why would he derail his own career to "show" anybody anything. But, its ok, to each his own. Let me say this real quick, that Bruce Irvin KO hit was brutal. The dome floor is concrete with a thin layer of fake grass. It was the medical staff that took Carr out not himself.
I said none of the above that you mentioned. I implied that I see a correlation of the two. If I’ve only known you for 2 weeks but you notice your Watch is missing from your home and I’ve been the only one in there in that two week span I would not blame you for hiding everything the next time I came over even if I’m completely innocent. I would understand the correlation. Can you grasp that? Lol

i respect that. I just dont agree with one mistake opening up the doors to the others. You could also say hes a new QB on a new team that he thought was already good, or at least better than the Raiders. And the D has regressed and the frustration set in. You see that Troy Aikamn rant vid, frustrated competitors are passionate. It be worse if your boy threw a pick and wouldnt show any emotion. We'd be like, this dudes here to steal money, he only cares about himself. Just saying

What bothers me most in the inconsistency of the criticism. DA and Pete get railed for showing no emotion, Carr gets railed for showing too much. Jameis gets praise for yelling at TQS on the sideline, Carr gets flack for yelling at Olave during a game. It seems to depend on WHO is doing what and whether they are a current favorite or not. Fans are going to do fan things, but I mostly disregard the people who make these comments and judgements as not serious people.

Carr gets flack for yelling at Olave during a game.
That situation was a little bit more nuanced than just "yelling at Olave during a game."
-Everybody thought Olave quit on the route
-DA's verbiage didn't help
-Olave falls on the sword
-CGM comes out and gives us the play, which takes us back to bullet point 1.
-Everybody thought Olave quit on the route when in reality he was a decoy and his purpose was done as Taysom was open, but even if that wasn't the case, instead of going through progressions, Carr just chunked it and yelled at CO.

And that's where the issue with that situation came from.

Let me help you with this:

1. DA is 20-45 as a HC. He could yell or not show any emotion or do whatever he wanted if he was winning.

2. Carr is brand new on this team and just signed a 150 million dollar contract and literally had the audacity to yell at anyone when he’s given his teammates many reasons to yell at him. They didn’t though. Horrible leadership In general.

3. Let’s not be disingenuous, Trequan was arguably a bigger punching bag than Carr has delt with thus far and he never said one word and took it in stride while dealing with it for YEARS. Didn’t respect how long we held on to him but I respect him for taking it on the chin and going about his business. Sean Payton even listened in on the convo and turned around to ignore like Jameis was justified in what he’s saying. If SP didn’t have a problem why would we?! Oh Jameis also was winning before he got hurt the Tampa game :) the main purpose of playing.

You just proved my point, because everything you just said confirms it "depend on WHO is doing what and whether they are a current favorite or not".

Actually I didn’t prove anything but produce and nobody gives a da*n what you do. How did you not grasp that? Lol the way you all try to paint it like he’s been an amazing teammate and leader (let alone giving us 150 mil worth of production thus far) to shield him from any criticism is getting very old. Saints fans have always been consistent. If you don’t produce you will hear it no matter who you are.The same fans who bood him was cheering him on as he was completing all those passes in a row. Simple!

That’s so much drama from one play. I doubt any of the players are still thinking about this the way you are. If they are they’re being petty.

I look at the Carr situation kind of like Russell Wilson last year. New team with a bad coach that made him look washed and everyone thought he was done. This year while the yards aren’t eye popping, Wilson is playing very efficient and Payton, after a rough start has turned things around.

I think many of us here agreed with proper coaching Payton would have turned some of these losses into wins. Competent coaching and play calling matters. If Payton was coaching we beat the Packers even with Winston coming in, we beat the Texans, Vikings, and Falcons. I see us at 9-3 and we aren’t even having this conversation about Carr being awful and blowing up the coaching staff. I don’t think Carr would be lighting the world on fire his first year still but he’d be doing well enough to not warrant the amount of hateful comments about his performance many users are making towards him because Payton would be coaching him up and the mistakes would be less.

I know Carr hasn’t looked great and at times made some really head scratching plays but I definitely am not ready to throw the towel in on him yet. Does that mean if we are in position to grab a QB in the draft to not do it because we have Carr? No. We still grab one, get a new coach, OC, and see how things can roll next year with a coach and OC who know what they are doing. If Carr shows little to no improvement next year then we’ve got our replacement QB in the building.

Yea, thanks for the advice, I’ll do the same, I get too caught up trying to change peoples opinions but it’s not possible.

How many people get in arguments with their wife / gf and get mad, walk out the room, and ask the dog, “what are you looking at! “. This is what happened, Nothing! Meanwhile we have a QB that can at least move the ball between the 20s. Enjoy, while he’s still alive.

The problem with arguing with people about this topic is there is probably nothing Carr can do at this point to change their mind. Good or bad. Hes either terrible or great from week to week and the truth is he’s somewhere in between. He’s an average qb.

Drama or not, that's exactly how that situation play out and who said that anyone is still thinking about it? He gave examples and I clearly laid out that "yelling at Olave" was more nuanced than just that. And if we are being real, that was the beginning of the Twitter subliminal messages from CGM. But at the end of the day, none of us know what is going on in that locker room.
