Technically they don’t have to sell us anything. You will still buy their season tickets. The only effect of the fans is booing. And selling their tickets to the opponents fans. The covid year proved that fans aren’t required. So you can wish, post hate, reach down for stats and reasons why this or that guy sucks, it doesn’t mean anything. Mickey on the air called the saints his team. Not yours or mine. His, or more accurately ”our” meaning Gayle and co. We’re just customers. Did they ask the fans for their input before they pursued Carr? Nope. For the record, I would’ve agreed and still do agree. Hes the only Qb that’s reliable. That I’m not a freaking nervous wreck watching. But I digress. That's why it's important Carr finishes out this season. The FO has to sell the fans hope every year. 2021 it was Jameis. 2022 it was Jameis again because he got hurt in 2021. 2023 it's Carr. If Carr misses the rest of the season I think it could be Carr again because he got hurt. If we play out this thing with DA and Carr and it doesn't work over the next month, they have to come up with something new to sell us.
But I think the players themselves appreciate the fans. The fans thru social media have a way of getting to them. Football is modern day gladiator fights. They crave the roar of the crowd when they do something great. The pursuit of glory is their way, ask any Klingon they’ll tell you. Go watch the movie gladiator.
