Desean Jackson Anyone? He is available (3 Viewers)

Desean Jackson and Winston could never develop chemistry in Tampa. I remember Desean wanted out of Tampa because of it. Desean had really nice chemistry with Fitzpatrick in Tampa.

No thanks.

Don't need a guy that's more concerned with his own stats than being on a winning team.

We don’t have the cap space to cover his salary. We have less than 1m cap room.

Then we would need to restructure another contract.

I think getting MT back helped make the decision to add RB and not a WR at this time.

Nah. I mean DJax is a "one trick pony" but that one trick is deadly. Only reason I say no is because we have a couple guys that can take the top off. You can defend that by simply putting a deep safety on the field.

Our problem is we don't have guys that can win on their routes. Give me the route GOD over the burner. Cooper Kupp comes to mind. he's fast, but he's no DJax. But no one can cover Kupp.

Exactly. We already have a guy that can blast down field in Harris. We need guys that can get separation on regular routes. None of the Saints current healthy WRs can. The biggest disappointment this season is the fact Marquez Callaway can‘t get an inch of separation from even a subpar DB. CGM isn‘t freakishly fast but is almost always open because of his route running (like Kupp). The QB also always knows exactly where CGM will be making it easier to complete passes. We don’t need speed, we need guys who can separation…..

Cap space isn’t a problem, if the Saints want to trade for someone the cap won’t stop them. Loomis shows this to us all the time.

Heck we had close to the same cap space when we made Byrd the highest paid safety in NFL history (at the time)

However, anyone that is more worried about his stats than winning or having a chance to win a championship isn’t really a player any team wants.

I would go big in a trade, preferably Allen Robinson. He’s a total beast. Don’t know how I would do it but I would. He and MT13, Calloway, Harris, Stills…it could definitely work.
Think about this one. Allen Robinson's "current" contract can't be fit under the salary cap because it is $17.88 million. Saints would be on the hook for over half of that, but the Bears could pick up some of that by way of a bonus the same way Houston did with Ingram. Bears would likely be in line, assuming they qualify under free agency add/subtract rules, for a third round pick in 2023. It is not a sure thing. A 2023 third is equal to a 2022 fourth rounder, right? They might even accept a 2022 fifth round pick because you never really know the future. Robinson could stay with the Bears and get injured this year and be forced to sign a one year "prove it" contract and the Bears third round comp pick goes poof.

Make it happen Loomis. Trade for somebody who has proven to be an NFL receiver, because we have pretty much none of those on the field right now.

Also we really don’t know about all the behind the scenes stuff with Michael Thomas…he could want outta here bad. We don’t really know…for all we know he and the Saints could have a major issue still.

Desean Jackson reminds me of Ted Ginn in a veteran deep threat that always remained a solid deep threat even in his later years.

Speaking as a Bucs fan, this is not a good fit as long as Winston is the saints qb. They never got on the same page when they were on the field together and Jackson tried to poison the locker room against Winston while he was in Tampa.

If that's true, then I would hard pass. Wasn't aware of his issues with Winston.

I'm curious who you might think (of those potentially out there to acquire) would be a better fit?

If you can't find the right size round peg, that doesn't necessarily make the answer a bigger hammer to smash down the square peg you happened to be able to find at the moment. LOL
