Speculation Despite Bad Stretch of Games, Sam Darnold's Market is Still North of $30M Per Year, According to James Palmer (8 Viewers)

Darnold gave the Vikings a literal dream scenario. Do so well that he's going to get paid and the Viking will get a 3rd round comp pick, while at the same time showing enough flaws that no one can blame them for moving on from him.

Carr would not have won 14 on that team this year. But you’re right Saints roster is trash.
I could easily see Carr being very close to the success Darnold had in that situation. And probably better in the last two games than Darnold. And that’s not a knock on Darnold, he stepped up big time this season.

I am sorry Justin Jefferson along with Jamar Chase are the two best wide receivers in the league. TJ Hockenson is one of the best tight ends. I do not see Darnold anywhere close to a top QB in this league. Has he earned mid tier money, I guess, but he has Scott Mitchell, Elvis Grbac, Donte Culpepper free agent can't make it elsewhere energy.
$30M/year isn't top QB money, it's mid-tier QB money. I agree that Darnold wouldn't be nearly as successful in most other places, but I think JJ McCarthy has high potential to bust, and given the Vikings' cap situation, they'd be wise to keep him around just in case.

You sound like Nick Wright—Mahomes and everyone else. I think there are at least 10 QBs that I consider elite and have HOF potential.
Nope. It really is reality. When you win on the biggest stage, it cements you into NFL immortality. Mahomes has done it 3 times already. He is the standard in the NFL. Everyone else is chasing him. It’s a fact. Lamar, Josh, Burrow, (all franchise QBs imho) etc are bonafide great, but need to take that next step.
