Detellier On Draft/Saints (3 Viewers)

So if we could move up and get an impact player you'd be against it? Thats just messed up thinking. Just because we need help in a handful of spots doesn't make it any less attractive to move up and actually get a player we covet. I am not against either, and I am definitly not against giving up picks to get a player we think can help now. Not all tradeing up is a bad thing, a lot of times it actually works out.

I dont think all trading up is a bad thing but this year I think it is. The only guy who I would want to trade up for this year is Dorsey and we would habve to give up way too much to get him. Sedrick Ellis may be there when we pick and I dont think Mike Jenkins is worth trading up for. Thats just my opinion though.

I might just cry if we use our #10 for a WR, even if the pick is DeSean Jackson.

I think we might need to try using it to trade down 5-10 spots in the draft.

Nevimeister seems to have the right idea.

So, you don't believe that we were expected to take A.J. Hawk if Reggie didn't fall to us?

A.J. Hawk > Keith Rivers.

Even then, the team did the right thing and selected BPA, which is how they should go this year.

The New Orleans Saints will not draft an outside LB in round one. It will not occur. So everyone wanting Rivers should stop wishing for it. The Saints won't replace Fujita or Shanle and they're right in that thinking. Given the way this draft looks pre-combine, expect the Saints to deal out of the spot or force a CB pick.

Hopefully we'll replace Simoneau, then find a replacement for Shanle next. I think that Fujita is the only legitimate LB on our roster.

trade our 1st to atl for hall and their 2nd... trade our original 2nd to cincy for ocho.. trade a 4th, conditional 3rd, for vilma... sign trufant, faneca and the best ILB available (briggs included)... with atl's 2nd take the best olb or dt, whichever is rated higher, on the board... we now have 2 (most experts would say) shutdown corners, we've upgraded our LBers immensely and our OL

we're broke but hey, it's not my money

Different circumstances. Shanle hadn't just gotten a nice contract from the Saints the year before. Shanle I don't think was even on the team. Our LBs the year before that were....anybody remember? Cause they sucked so bad I've already forgotten them. I remember Hodge and Allen, not anyone else.

NO

Trade up to Ravens with our 4th round pick and grab Ellis. Last year a lot of people wanted to trade up and grab Willis and I was against it, and boy was I wrong so lets not make the same mistake this year lets move up and grab an impact player.

Unlikely...according to the trade charts, we'd have to give up our 1st (1300 pts) and our 2nd (490 pts) to get the Ravens 4th pick (1800 pts)...too much to give up, IMO.

Sign 2 impact defensive players in FA and then trade down if ones not there in the draft and grab extra 2nds and 3rds.
We need to rebuild the secondary and LBing corp's along with DT's who can play both positions.

I am sure the Ravens would take our 4th and be happy if we switched. They could still get whoever they want

no move down and take talib , and flowers in round 2-3

i cant see ellis AND dorsey getting selected in the top ten .... dorsey isnt the first overall for sure,.. his stock is falling a bit because of injuries.... if dorsey falls to about 4-6 , i cant see ellis gettin selected this high , too.
teams are very carefull of injuries , especially with linemen in round 1. i dont think that dorsey will make a alan branch , but i wouldnt wonder if he slip through 6-8 .

the second thing : i cant understand people who want us to trade up for picking ellis.... two picks for a DT in round 1 again ? after the sully disaster ? for a position with such a high bust rate and limited harvest the last 5-10 years ?

if we stay : only phillips would be logical for me ! (IMHO)
if we trade down , we can pick bpa on defense in round 1 and two
trading up isnt the best idea , since the talent in the high top of the draft is very limited and pretty weak after it....

just my two cent.

at the end we pick offense bpa .... and i would kill sean payton if it isnt atleast a potentially guy for instant starter at RT

after you kill him ill help you get rid of the evidence.:ezbill:

I swear to God...........

I don't think any team would be more likely to trade for a player. It also makes it harder to trade. The 1st round picks will have less time this year. So really unless you have something worked out for the pick already, its near impossible to get something done in time (trading a player). Too much scrambling.

Personally I am not against taking a player like DeSean Jackson. I think he would definitly impact our offenses big play ability and is an impact player in the return game. I think its especially likely given what might be available, what will be available in free agency and what players are likely to go top 10. We have a stong chance of standing there at #10 and an offensive player is the top player on our board with guys like Dorsey, Ellis, Gholston, Rivers, Long, Connor all good chances of going before we pick.

I know we need defense, but you can't help but be excited about the youth and talent of an offense that features Colston, Bush, Meachem, Jackson and Brees.

if we take an offensive player in the 1st round , I will be ******!!!!! Our defense continues to look like swiss cheese and I've seen turnstyles slow people down better than our defense has. I wouldn't mind trading down a few spots and picking up an extra draft pick or two, if possible,
