I vote experienced vet. After the shambles that Garrett Hartley left me in on a regular basis, I need some stability in my kicker..lol

I keep seeing people say things like this, about the stability and/or reliability of Graham, I don't get it. If Hartley taught us anything its that the past success of a kicker is irrelevant. Last year Shayne Graham made 4 short field goals and missed 2 field goals. (Why he missed is debatable, but a miss is a miss) And so far this year he has missed at least 3 reported field goals in practice, one 33yrd extra point try, and now appears to be injured. Don't see how he's the "safe" option.

I don't know if Dimke is the answer, but I know I don't want Graham as my kicker.

In cases like this, I'll always want to give the shot to the person would could potentially lock down the position for a decade or better. Dimke for me until he gives us reason not to believe.

Dimke for me. Ever since Graham came he's sort of been on and off. Never really been confident in him.

Dimke misses a kick its because he's young, Graham misses a kick its because he is old...no matter which way you decide they are going to miss a kick or two.

Exactly. Which is why I'd like to go with the option that won't guarantee us going through this again in a couple of years because he's retiring.

I'm with this if we don't start Dimke. Dimke is clearly the better choice with his leg strength as well as his intermediate kicks overall. Graham missing the now standard 33 yd extra point the other day is poop. I vote Dimke all day...

Succop would be great because he can hit the 52-55 yd FG's you need at times as well as serve as a backup punter to Morstead. Succop was kicker/punter at South Carolina with the ol' ball coach, and was $$$. He's been great at KC as well.

I read somewhere that RG4 held for that extra point and the strings were wrong.... Who knows...

Dimke - he just looks natural kicking.

Plus last year he we 7-8 in preseason in all outdoor games. I wanted the Saints to take Chandler Cantanzaro in the late rounds, I also thought he would be available come September against Jay Feely, but there is a lot of talk that Feely may be on the bubble.

The easiest choice would be Graham at this point because so much of having a good Kicker is not just his Leg Power/Accuracy its his psyche in big moments...and that's something Demke hasn't put on display yet.

While Graham has dating back to last season.

If I were coach while I was resting Graham I'd hope that a game winning situation came up in one of these preseason games and see how he fairs with a game on his shoulders. Only then would I be willing to move on from Graham completely.

We must remember that thought Demke and Graham have up to this point missed 2FG's a piece I believe, Demke's miss notably came in a game winning practice situation(will posts link later if I can find article)

So yeah while I'd prefer the younger leg of Demke's (nice to he his kicks go right to the middle rather than hooking absurdly) at this point Grahams psyche and Demke being a rather unknown in similar situations Graham gives the upper hand IMHO

Me too! I read that Tulane's Cairo Santos is pushing for Ryan Succop's job in Kansas City too! I don't know why we didn't go after a top un-drafted kicker especially one right here in our backyard!

But out of these two, I need more kicks/games just like coach does too.
