Do you have ambition to live or retire abroad? (1 Viewer)

Nope, does not do a thing .. i do take an herbal supplement i get from amazon that works really well, and it does contain melatonin- but it also has magnesium , L-theanine , passionflower, valerian, ashwaganda and some other ingredients.. not sure which of those does the trick for me, or just the combination- but i have many times tried melatonin alone and does nothing .

its doesnt work for me that well either, but in a pinch ( long flight )

what does work is pure chamomile tea.

Yes.

Given the fact that with inflation our retirement won’t get us far and we likely will live longer than our parents minus any disease or accident, we just can’t comfortably retire in America. Without me working until I’m 75.

Personally I couldn’t live anywhere without mountains. My wife loves the ocean, so there is a bit of compromise that is to be had.

I love the idea of New Zealand. Maybe even Scotland. Or Bulgaria/Romania. Italy is on the list too.

The US is rapidly turning into a hyper consumerist overpriced theme park and our politicians have sold us to the highest bidder. That combined with endless war, profiting off of healthcare instead of actually caring for their citizens and yeah — we are going to be out of this place eventually.

Living in a border town, I know lots of people here WITH health insurance who still go to Tijuana for medical & dental services. Many places there accept our insurance and the cost most of the time without using insurance is still cheaper. Their facilities are nicer, the staff are nicer, etc. If you have Sentri, it's the way to go. I haven't done it because I am fortunate that I have really good insurance through my employer & my FSA is front loaded and has a higher balance than my annual deductible.

I have another friend who is an independent contractor and has an okay health plan but certainly nothing to write home about - went to Turkey over the summer to get a full workup and he had been having unexplained nose bleeds. They discovered he had a benign tumor in his nasal cavity and he got it removed. So airfare, hotel, full workup, CT scan, etc. All cheaper than he could have done it here WITH insurance.

If there's one thing I've gathered from the Luigi thread, this thread and the job satisfaction thread is that most Americans agree that our healthcare system is absolute trash and everyone is pissed off about it.
