New to this thread. I was just wondering, if somebody could explain to me, why aliens would leave their home in time to travel hundreds of light years to arrive now, when for the vast majority of this planet's 4.6M history it had nothing but pond scum, and a mere 100,000 years ago the most advanced life forms (besides the mice and dolphins) were apes barely able to light a fire?

maybe they were just riding by and said, look, lets go see whats going on. Maybe they are explorers with lots of couriosity.
Or maybe their technology is beyond what we consider impossible and can travel instantly accross the universe.
And who's to say they havn't been here multiple times in the last 100,000 years? And who's to say they are recently here because they just got the capabilities to travel that way? many posibilities.

Sounds like a question you should be asking them.

Really, the only way we, as a race, can explain it is using Science Fiction, after all, it's Science Fiction until it's Science Fact. Anyway, look at Star Trek: The Original Series. Kirk was explorying the galaxy. When he discovered a new planet or species, he discovered them. He didn't already know they were there and decided to go look. Maybe the UFOs are just Botanists, Geologists, and Archealogists exploring a planet on the very outer edge of the galaxy they live in.

Wow

David Charles Grusch, a veteran and former member of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and National Reconnaissance Office, has blown the whistle on this information, speaking with several news outlets about the crafts.

“These are retrieving non-human origin technical vehicles, call it a spacecraft if you will, non-human exotic origin vehicles that have either landed or crashed,” Mr Grusch told NewsNationNow.

In the last 200 years or so we have begun broadcasting radio waves and other electromagnetic waves and they will continue throughout the universe. The same way we are "listening" for sounds of intelligent life, we should expect that they are as well. Consider the fact that they must be more advanced than us in order to travel interstellar distances, then I would assume they are listening as well and would have come to observe us when they received our radio/satellite/tv/internet transmissions.

This is maybe some of the most exciting alien news yet. A credible whistleblower speaking out under oath, big deal if it all checks out.

Saw this and was thinking about posting it. I know a lot of people are saying...well, he didn't actually see any craft, only second-hand info.....but, he testified under oath that it is true, so he either has ironclad sources or he lied under oath. My thinking is that it will be a miracle if we ever have ironclad evidence. The ultra secret program that would have to be in place to protect this info is not going to just say "oh, yeh, we have tons of them, come take a look". To keep all this secret, they would have to keep the president out of the circle because, let's face it, the president is only a temporary position. Once he is voted out of office, he would be a citizen with all this info. Do you think Trump would be able to keep this secret? There are probably a few high ranking military that are in the know, and when they retire, they continue to work inside the project as "consultants".

The people who told him what he repeated weren't under oath though. They wouldn't even tell him that stuff on the record so it could be included in the report he made as part of the UFO task force.

It's entirely possible that some contractors were just BSing the guy who was investigating UFO's.

When I hear the argument about "why would aliens come here? why would some super intelligent interplanetary species be interested in us?" or if I hear about aliens potentially meaning harm, I think about a quote from the protagonist played by Jodie Foster in the movie Contact: "We pose no threat to them. It would be like us going out of our way to destroy a few microbes on an ant hill in Africa."

The antagonist government bureaucrat goes on to say something like "and how bad would we feel about destroying a few microbes on an ant hill in Africa?" -- and that's a good point, something to think about, and it sheds some light on the scientific vs militaristic attitudes we battle on Earth today.

However, using our own advancement as an analog, because that's really all we have, I think if we look at the intelligent humans amongst us, the ones who actually lead scientific fields, the ones who bring us into the future, they are not destructive in their goals, not militaristic -- we can see that science has an interest in studying things like microbes on an ant hill in Africa, even while the general population cares not at all and, quite contrary to wanting it destroyed, science wants it preserved so it can be studied and learned from. Intelligence has no interest in wanton destruction.

If our own civilization is to advance it will be this scientific attitude that advances us, it's what has advanced us, despite the desire of so many to use science for anti-scientific destruction. I've tentatively concluded then, from this optimistic logic, that the most plausible explanation for any possible alien interest in us is just that -- scientific exploration.

I mean, it would make sense to suppress a story of this size. Mid to late 1940's, you start hearing about Aliens, roswell, etc. The world was just getting out of the most horrible war ever waged in human civilization. Imagine coming clean you found something unexplained, not from this world and is so far advanced that you can't even fathom where its from, then you went and showed it publicly? Keep in mind, this is at a time where the Russians and the USA were quietly pilfering remaining German engineers and scientists away secretly to further weapons research and development.

Fast forward to today, there is a tremendous amount of real fear to reveal something of this magnitude for all to see. Imagine for a second these are emotional beings from another place, once the intriguing period of it all settles, what happens if you make them mad? They can already transcend entire galaxies with their technology, I don't even wanna think about the kinda weapons they'd possess.
