Does Ian Book have a chance at the job? (3 Viewers)

he will likely be the backup while Taysom goes to joker role again. then next year Taysom will likely be traded bc he wants to play QB, Jameis will resign and Book will be the backup

Dak and Wilson stole the job in preseason. I think Winston is most likely going to win it, but hey you never know.
Jameis was my choice coming in to the season, but with the WR issues, I'm starting to think the Saints will heavily lean on the run and will want to have Taysom's scrambling ability available when they do have to throw. I say Taysom gets the nod just because of his style of play.

I think he’ll start at least 1 game this year. Don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing.

Bad, it means our top 2 guys are either hurt or stinking up the joint.

What makes a NFL caliber QB, or any other position for that matter. I have seen QB's with tons of athletic ability, way more than most starting QB's in the NFL right now, that have never even made the practice squad, most never even given a chance to compete. There have been big names from major colleges that never made it in the NFL, while no name QB's from lower tier colleges have been successful. Mike Buck, University of Maine, could throw the ball 90 yards from the kneeling position, but never made it pass a backup. Heard he was not very smart and could not learn the offense. So why have him as a backup?

There have been very cerebral QB's, but not athletic that were never given chances. So what does it take to be given a chance to succeed in the NFL? Just curious.
