NFL Draft Drew Allar. Never forget that I’m the guy who projected Jayden Daniels in 2022 (1 Viewer)

As a huge Penn State fan I would say Allar is a third round pick. He struggled last year and is improved this year but he still has more growth that needs to be achieved. Warren is a player that should be on our radar.
I concur. Allar's measurements and potential are definitely upper echolon, but he's nothing special (yet), IMO. He beats the teams he's supposed to beat, and loses to the teams that are "better than PSU". I can't remember a single time where I've seen him put PSU on his back and lead the charge to victory. And I think that's an important quality in a 1st round QB, let alone a "franchise" QB.

Like I've said earlier, I'm a HUGE PSU fan and I like Allar. But I wouldn't take him early. As others have stated, he's young and could use another season of development at the NCAA level, so I hope he does that for his own good. And the freshman Grunkenmeyer is supposedly pushing him behind the scenes, and is even "further in his development than Allar was at the same point". But that could just be a recruiting pitch for blue chip players. If Allar stays, and further develops, but still doesn't elevate his team around him, or carry them on his back when needed, I still wouldn't take him in 2026 either. All the physical traits and tools, but still hasn't demonstrated the intangibles, IMO. At least not yet...

Allar to me could be Russell Wilson he could also be Ian Book.

Yup Warren and Loveland (Michigan) are interchangeable as the number 1 TEs on most Draft Boards that I have read. Both of them could be first rounders.

I'd LOVE if the Saints drafted Warren, but we would have to take him in the first.

Allar is a projected 3rd or 4th rounder. The draft profiles I have read says his ball placement is erratic and he has sloppy footwork, struggles with pre-snap recognition and post snap reads.

The upside is big tho, He's big, even by NFL standards 6'5" 250lbs and has a big time arm. He's tough, has a quick release, and has nice anticipation. He's gonna be the youngest QB in the draft. He's only 20 now and will be 21 when he gets to the NFL.
Tankanthon currently has Loveland mocked to us in the 2nd(#34) and Warren being taken at 52. This would be the perfect year to use a high second rounder on the best TE available. I bet one of them will be there.

This is the same thing that happened in my Jayden Daniels post.

But of course everyone knows someone is good after they are good.
While I like Daniels he has played a total of 9 games against some of the worst teams in the league with bad D's . Let's see him play against good teams with good defenses before he's crowned the GOAT

Penn State was my team before the Sandusky scandal. That broke my heart. I still watch them but it's not the same. Anyway, I've watched Allar's entire career and this is how I see him. He has all of the measurables. He's going to test well. He looks the part but I don't know if he has "it". I don't know he's the guy or just another guy. If you watch his highlights you'll see some amazing throws but when you watch him game to game you'll see some really erratic play. His accuracy is all over the place short to intermediate. A lot of that can be fixed with good coaching and proper mechanics.

My biggest issue with Allar is that he shrinks in big games. You want big time QBs to rise to the occasion but for Allar it looks like the moment is too big. He presses and makes weird throws. I will say this though, I don't know if Penn State's offense is the best fit for him. That offense is frustrating to watch.

I'd draft him in the 2nd or 3rd round but the NFL is desperate for QBs and he'll be drafted too high.

It's because he's not setting his feet at all until he throws. For him to be in his junior year and still moving his feet non-stop like a high school QB, tells me the coach isn't fixing it. If he would take the snap, and set himself and his feet as he scans the field, his throws would be much less erratic. But instead he gets the snap, falls back into the pocket and his feet are non-stop dancing. It's hurting him bad and it won't be fixed before he declares for the draft.

I don't think I would draft him at all unless my QB coach would be certain he could fix that. Even then, you're looking at a 5th or 6th because he'll be a project. But possibly an exceptional project with high upside. The feet dancing is his 1 major flaw. However, if you fix that it could lead to other flaws becoming highlighted. Like perhaps having his feet set he begins to panic greatly after his first read, leading to poor decisions.

Here's the kicker. Bo Nix had the same exact issue. We're halfway through the season and he's dancing much less then he was in college/at the beginning of the year. Sean Payton and company are straightening that out and the gamble is working out great because of it. Bo Nix was also a better prospect, running a pro level offense. But he was also surrounded with a much better Oline/WR/RB talent. I don't think its far-fetched at all to say Drew Allar is a poor man's Bo Nix. It's entirely possible that we see Bo Nix as a top 10 QB in the NFL before his rookie contract expires. So if Drew Allar is a poor man's Bo Nix, with proper coaching, is it reasonable to say he could be a top 15 QB by end of rookie contract? Is it worth a 5th or 6th rounder?

His talent is obvious. And even though the NFL has done it's best to make the QB's off limits, his small body is in danger of being broken at any moment. Just ask the other dynamic rookie QB who played for Washington and then got broken.

It is important not to forget things...

Never forget your multiple posts about drafting DT Logan Lee in the 2nd. Apparently that wasn't a reach.

Lee was eventually drafted in the sixth round.

Never forget your projection to draft S Jaden Hicks also in the second. You were '45% sure' that he would actually be the team's pick there*.

Hicks eventually went in the fourth round.

Never forget that you said the team should draft WR Joshua Cephus in the fifth round.

Joshua Cephus went undrafted.

*Notably you claimed at the time that you "didn't care about being right". 'Old you' should probably have a word with 'present you' about that, because you seem to care, quite a lot.

Even a stopped watch is right twice a day.
