Sorry but Saintaholik is right…anyone that thinks Dallas Goedert, Juwan Johnson, and Foster Moreau are in the same tier isn’t watching any tape or the same footage as I am. Two completely different players.
Sure you can simply look at birds-eye view stats, but you have to remember that Goedert has had a different level of target share over his career and now compared to Moreau or Johnson, playing on teams with true #1 and #2 receivers, as well as several years spent sharing targets with Zach Ertz. I’d even go as far as to say that the Eagles’ depth chart dynamics over his career there may have even held him back and there may be some room to grow there for a late career surge if he goes to the right system/team.
The things he can do athletically are nothing like anything we’ve had since Jimmy Graham. Not to compare those two players, but for me, he’d be the best TE we have had here talent wise since Graham’s departure and, if he remains healthy, would likely put up the best statistical output we have seen at the position since Ben Watson when he was here in his twilight years balling at age 35+ with a late career surge of his own.
Foster Moreau and Juwan Johnson are absolutely awful comps. This is a situation where their draft statuses are what they are compared to Goedert’s for a reason. They’re completely different calibers of athletes.
And oh yeah by the way, Goedert is also one of the best run blocking tight ends in the game.
This would be a HUGE move.
We haven’t had TEs that change a game for a long time. Johnson and Moreau don’t come close to Goedert. I get that he’s older and a lot of people including myself want to get younger, but to make an argument that Goedert is basically Johnson or Moreau is laughable.
