Elon Musk makes $43 Billion offer for private buyout of Twitter (6 Viewers)

.

This whole social media format is a relic of a bygone era. Blue Sky will be a lifeboat for those fleeing Twitter but will never come close to being as influential as Twitter was as it's peak. And Twitter/X is a dead platform walking.
sounds like you’re coming around and starting to endorse Reddit

Looks like bluesky’s late arrival strategy is not hurting it at all – it has already equaled or surpassed Threads daily active users. As someone who jumped to threads fairly early, and now spending time on bluesky, I have to say that bluesky feels more to me like, my Twitter was like before Elon. Many of the accounts I really liked never went to Threads but are now on BSky. I’m going to remain on both for now. There’s still more corporate presence on Threads (like sports TV networks etc) but they will follow the users.

And you know what’s not on either? Russian troll-bots, crypto-ads, and Nazis. (yet)

They're there. They're just not as visible, yet. I have seen some but there are several started packs for blocking those elements.

I’ve been on Threads since Gaza, October 2023. I’m a regular, daily active user. I have seen virtually zero ad posts or obvious bots. It’s not zero to be sure - but let’s say in 13 months I have seen an average of 100 posts per day (just a rough guess) including replies. That’s approximately 39,000 posts and I bet less than 50 of them have been ads or obvious bots.

It is true, however, that Threads mutes posts - and there’s a button I can press to see the muted posts, but I never press it. Perhaps that’s where they are. But my last months at Twitter were seeing a healthy percentage of that kind of activity

BlueSky seems to be very serious about moderation. They apparently banned Andrew Tate right after he signed up. Not sure exactly what he did, but being Tate I'm sure he deserved it and I'm also sure it was likely just an attempt by him to get more publicity.

I just learned about "block lists" you can subscribe to the "list" and it will auto block all the accounts listed within

( the "Starter packs" - are suggested listings of people you should follow, based on your current follows for newcomers )

in anything but constitutional matters, we should go ahead and underline 'weaponized speech' within the broader freedom of speech umbrella - we can go ahead and call out/block weaponized speech
