So he isn’t a vested veteran (I believe he needs 5 years and he is only year 4). Does he have medical coverage since he isn’t on a team? Would the Saints signing him and placing on NFI allow him access to Saints medical staff and coverage?

There are no guarantees, but Hodgkins is a more treatable cancer (though of course that’s relative). He’s also young and an elite athlete, which likely counts for something. I’m hopeful that he beats this and is in a Saints uni eventuallyIn case anyone was wondering how well athletes can come back from Hodgkin's lymphoma, consider US Greco-Roman wrestler Jeff Blatnick. Blatnick was diagnosed in 1982. In 1984, he became the first American wrestler to win the heavyweight gold medal at the Summer Olympics.
Consider that Blatnick's lymphoma was caught later than Moreau's, and that treatment has likely advanced considerably in 40 years ( @sammymvpknight ?).

I could see the Saints going either way. I personally would love to see the Saints sign him because Moreau is a human being, and by all accounts a good one, and I’d hope that matters more than a compensatory draft pick. But I get your point, and this is a business and not a soup kitchen.I know I am going be sound stone cold by writing this. I don't have a problem signing Moreau, but on the saints side, there is no need to sign him right now.
I will sign him once that he is not counted on the compensatory draft formula, and I will also wait until the draft. I will not be surprised if the saints take a tight end either Thursday or Friday. It is a very talented class and we should profit from it.
Sammy, I hated myself writing the previous message, but sometimes you have to have a cold head (and heart) before acting.I could see the Saints going either way. But you are right. It didn’t come off as heartless. It is a cold reality.Sammy, I hated myself writing the previous message, but sometimes you have to have a cold head (and heart) before acting.
I really wish the best for him, and I would not mind signing him today. But my previous reflection stays the same.
