He had no choice, the coach was hired before him and Ryan had already been resigned.Amazing how former Saints office people fare poorly elsewhere
The Falcons set the record for dead money in a single season? And I thought the 28-3 was bad.Enjoy,Farewell (Megathread)
I figure, based on recent posts, that I'm not the only one, so I figured I'd make a megathread. I've been a fan for about 30 years, but I've decided that I'm getting off of this train. It's been great. I love most of you folks and wish you and the Falcons all the best. Special thanks to the mod t...boards.atlantafalcons.comFire Fontenot!
might as well get this started, dude is out of his league seriously telling me you can't get more than a 3rd for Matt Ryan? In a league where Carson Wentz nets two 3rds? Get outta here I'm doneboards.atlantafalcons.comIt's time for new ownership
Mr. Blank I appreciate all you've done, but I think it's best for us ( and you ) to find another owner. It's not you ( it is ), but it's us ( it isn't )boards.atlantafalcons.comAn absolute fiasco
If they wanted to move on from Ryan, they could have moved him last year OR earlier this year. Let's say it was earlier this year - teams who might have taken a bite at Ryan - Washington, Indy, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and maybe Tennessee, Philly, Detroit and even SF. They waited and pinned...boards.atlantafalcons.comFalcons set an NFL record for single season dead cap money hit with MR fiasco. No one was taking on a 40 mil contract for a declining QB.They could have gotten a little more for the Matt Ryan trade. Lol
I would be upset at Fontenot too.
Mediocrity is a major step up for then at this point2 years of mediocrity here they come. They're gonna have to build up around him to give them a chance to be successful.
I'd hardly call that a chance. Its actually a pretty smart signing. He’s looking for a second chance, they have a need on the cheap. If he’s great for them, then they don’t have to draft a guy, if he’s terrible then they’ll likely have a high pick next year and get their choice of better QBs than this year.
Carrying that cap hit is going to be a struggle. No one was taking on a 40 mil contract for a declining QB.

Ha ha. Yes. That is completely accurate.Isn't part of the reason reason Arthur Smith became successful because Vrabel got rid of Mariota?
