great pilot episode

I watched both the first episode and the movie for the first time this week. Much prefer the TV series based on what I've seen.

Fargo:

Great critique of this week's episode.

Body count/murderers are adding up. Billy Bob is genius in this role. Incidentally, I totally cracked up when Deputy Soverson asked "what flavor."

This is a show I'm really looking forward to seeing each week.

Only way it could be any better would be if it was commercial less. Oh well the DVR does fast forward.

Unless you happen to download it from DirecTV's VOD service, as I did after I mistakenly erased the first show before my wife had seen it. Then you find out that the DVR won't let you fast forward at all! (Be warned.)

I was a big fan of the movie and my favorite aspect was Frances McDormand's Marge Gunderson, hilariously "Minnesota nice", but also a profoundly decent human being and sneakily smarter than everyone else around her. Waiting to see what the series (and Alison Tolman's character in particular) can offer in lieu of that.

Great stuff! Thanks for the link.

The final scene [spoiler omitted] reminded me, for all the world, of those Looney Tunes where the sheepdogs would clock in. “Morning, Sam.” “Morning, Ralph.” Just another day at the office.

:hihi:
