Fire Dennis Allen Billboard (5 Viewers)

I don't hate DA, I've never met him.

I knew you were a secret DA supporter.

Just joking. I was probably a bit over the top saying you had to "hate" him, but it just seems like any attempt to try to put things in context or perspective, or even try to find a way for the team to be successful even with DA, is met with "well DA is so terrible nothing can possibly work why can't you see that?"

I just don't see much productive discussion. But, maybe I'm expecting too much less than a week after a very frustrating win at the end of a very long and frustrating season.

And to attempt to make this really clear once again, I do not want DA to be HC of the Saints. I think he should have been fired at the end of last year and I think he certainly should have been fired at the end of this year. However, I do think that this is likely going to be a team that finishes next year with a record in the range of 8-9 and 9-8. That's especially true if they hire a competent OC.

That being said, yes, it is entirely possible that they struggle at the start of next season, DA loses the locker room, and they end up finishing with 3 or 4 wins. But, on the bright side that WILL get DA fired and at least we will have some good high draft picks. That is, of course, assuming that they don't trade all their 2025 draft picks to try to go for it this year. :mad1:

So wait until you hit rockbottom to get help? Why wait until you hit 4-13, let's wait until they go 0-17!

Not being a contender should be reason enough and reason alone to make a change. There's no difference between 0-17, 4-13, or 9-8 if your goal is to win a Superbowl. Dennis Allen doesn't get it. He's never going to get it. Waiting for him to completely fail is a pointless waste of time.
Can you point to coaching errors that Allen made this year? Can a HC do anything about a bad OL during a season if there aren't many alternatives?

Indeed. I want DA gone, but I don't hate him or anyone else in the organization. I tend to think the late season success was as much the players taking the lead as it was anything Allen did.

I think the roster is better than most are giving credit for and a strong leader at HC would put this team as is in the top 5.
Yeah, I don’t hate DA or those still supporting him. I do, however , feel sadly confident in predicting he’s going to do much worse next year with a much tougher schedule and a roster that will probably not be as good as this year’s.

If Lattimore, MT, and AK go, then I do think the prospect for even mediocre goes down. But, if, and it is a big if, they hire a competent OC that may make up for some of the loss of talent since they were not close to maximizing the talent they had this year on offense. I think the defense will be about the same. DA can coach that side of the ball and Demario and Cam will provide the leadership.

But, I do think it's entirely possible that Carr can't gell with a new OC so they struggle early and DA loses the entire locker room and they end up with 3 or 4 wins. The real wildcard is Gruden. I would not personally hire him due to the stuff in his emails, but he could either come in and fix the offense or he could lead to the entire locker room revolting because they hired him.

wait til we play a real schedule next year
I think we can beat the Eagles, Giants/Commanders, Raiders, Chargers, Rams(back and forth results), Packers, and could steal Dallas, KC/Denver, or Cleveland. I think if BB doesn't coach the Falcons we could sweep them again and go 4-2 in division again. If we want to go 12-5 or 13-4 that requires two bad teams in the division that we can run over.

Chances are at least one of our division opponents will sign a competent coach, and there is a chance Atlanta will trade for Fields (with weapons they have that could be dangerous). We went 9-8 with a so-called easy schedule, and it will be hard to improve on that next year.

It's fine, I guess my problem is the lack of good arguments to support the notion of keeping him another year.....DA supporters (whom I also don't "hate") lack context in most of their arguments and use vernacular like "hate" because it's really all they have left....

I guess my question would be why should a team should have to "try and find a way to be successful with any HC (even DA!!!)".....the HC is either helping create those successes or they aren't and thus far DA has not been helping create anything but an underachieving team....

But in the end the point is moot if this FO/ownership decide to keep him around another year, which it appears they will....I hope it's not just another wasted year but I very much fear it will be.....

So this is the reason for wanting to fire DA. Because BB could go to a rival. If BB wins again, it doesn't matter what HC we have. Not even Dan Campbell would outdo him. But Justin Fields? He's not the next Cam Newton here. NE just wants a fresh approach because it's more sexy than waiting it out with a longtime coach. NE lost a lot of talent along with Brady. They lost Edelman and Gronk as well. The team needs to get a good QB, and then they need weapons and playmakers. It may be better for NE to maybe get the playmakers first before the right QB so as not to destroy his confidence.

Honestly, I think this roster is a 10 win roster that can win 11 and maybe win a playoff game or two with good coaching. DA's results this year are really in the margin of error, but the way they played to get there was not good enough. They were lucky to get to 9 wins and a lot of that was due to a very soft schedule.

Yep. I’ve said the same. A better coach /staff gets this team 1-2 more wins.

There were a few big HC/OC decisions that could have changed outcomes like a GB FG vs punt, taking a delay of game penalty to push us out of FG range, non-catch that you don’t challenge, redzone fade routes to WRs vs JG usage, use of motion/pa, etc.

I hope Loomis is leaving the door open for a top coaching candidate. Otherwise, this team likely finishes with 6-8 wins next year.

It's dumb to waste money on billboards when it's clear Da is going nowhere, whether he deserves another year is a completely different discussion...

A better coach gets least 2 more wins, minimum. Green Bay and LA Rams were two very winnable games. The coaching decisions in the Rams game were atrocious. A better offensive game plan (that doesn't include routes with multiple receivers in the same area and 4 verts repeatedly) in the first half of the season would have made a huge difference.

Looking at the schedule, 7 is the ceiling with DA at the helm - and that's probably being generous.
