Fire Dennis Allen!! (2 Viewers)

I don't expect him to be fired during the season.
Does anyone think the Mannings would be okay with Arch coming here under the current regime? I don't think they would want him anywhere near this dumpster fire.

If Allen is still the coach at that time, sure, but a new coach and new outlook would be interesting.

That said, both Peyton and Eli went to the teams that drafted them, so Arch will probably go wherever he's drafted. If the Saints happen to need a QB and can draft him where he should be, then I don't see anything preventing that from happening.

The Colts just brought in one of the most respected GMs in the league, Polian. You forget that Archie forced the Chargers to trade with the Giants. It's not true that they just went to where they were drafted. He made sure his sons were in the ideal situation with string front offices. No way Arch would be here with our current FO/coach.

You don't know that. Archie has had and still has a relationship with the Saints and even spoke with Rattler last week.

That said, I'm assuming Allen is gonna be gone by the time the Saints have a chance to draft Arch. But whatever, you think what you want. If the Saints are on the clock and Arch is on the board and they need a QB, they're gonna and likely should take him.

I never thought I would say this - I am 10000% against the concept of tanking. The draft is far too hit or miss.

However. It's hard to not imagine/daydream about a scenario where we continue on like this this year, get a high draft pick, clean house, hire someone like Ben Johnson and give him the keys to the castle/eleventy gadrillion a year, and then sell out to draft Arch. I'm with you in that I think it would take a year of campaigning the Manning family.

That would be a painful process for us, and certainly not guaranteed to even happen or pan out in any sense of the word.

But it would feel like a move. Something to knock us out of low-mediocrity.

I wouldn't be so certain....he's 19, playing for perhaps the best college team with a dominant oline, his stats are good but his college career is really just starting....he may well turn out to be great but at this point it's too early to tell....

Oh no doubt. He still has to get it done on the field. We'll see.

Obviously, I don't know that but I'm inferring that our current structure with Lucky at the top is not as appealing as Polian in Indy or the Giant's FO when Eli cam out.

If they wait until after the season to fire DA, it will probably keep us from getting the best prospective coaches. But I expect nothing else with this bunch. CSP and Brees saved ML by covering up all the dysfunction in the front office for 14 years. Since they have been gone, ML is not looking like the genius we thought he was. ML is being exposed.

It's no doubt gonna depend on a lot of variables. The organization may look a lot different 2 years from now. Could be the same too, but my hunch is not so much.

These are choices that Dennis wanted. He wanted Carr. He also wanted Deshaun Watson too.

Like... They both are part of the problem. Loomis had no logical reason to not reset our cap 2 years ago. Dennis hiring Carmichael and keeping him was another blunder on an already aging roster.
Can’t blame Carr, his numbers are upper third of the league over his last 12 games. He ain’t great but he is not the problem.

But I didn't blame Carr. I blame fiscal irresponsibility of getting Carr. If we had a cap healthy team and an ability to add talent through FA. There is no doubt in my mind this team would be great with a winning record.

Carr's contract one of the lower ones compared to other veteran starters not on a rookie contract. It was either gonna be him or someone else getting that contract. His contract isn't remotely why the team isn't cap healthy. It's a product of years of Loomis' approach to salary cap management.

Carr's salary is backended which complicates a rebuild enormously. We can't get out of his contract as it was designed to create salary cap space in the present.

If we wanted an out. We can't move him. He already has a voidcut dead cap salary at $22 million.
