Fire Dennis Allen!! (1 Viewer)

Yep, the be careful what you wish for thing. Lol. I never called for his firing or departure. Then we got worse.

Allen has to go. We need a young coach and a fresh start. That's what I wanted when Payton announced his departure, and instead we got a Raiders retread.

I'm not gonna call Allen or anyone else names, but it's time to cut bait and move on.
Be careful, Dave. You're asking for a Jets retread coming up!

I don't think this organization fires coaches in the middle of the season, similar to the PC issue last year, we may have to wait this year out.

I hope that is not the case this year. I know that good organizations don't make a habit of firing coaches mid-season, and ML probably always thinks about Sean's three straight 7-9 seasons, but it's time for DA to go. I think the team has quit and if it looks like that on Thursday night Loomis might actually pull the trigger. At least I hope so.

Yeah, gonna have to pass. :hihi:

But seriously, I want a young, offensive minded coach who is capable of leading men. Whether he's an up and coming college coach or a coordinator from another them, I don't really care. Then give him 3 years to right the ship. It should be a tear it down to the studs rebuild. We'll suck for a year or two, but on the back end we'll clear a lot of that dead money and get the team younger and rely more heavily on draft picks to get better.

I agree although I will say that I would be okay with a young defensive genius kind of coach. Most teams are going offensive coach so if you go with a DC, you might get a better guy than the picked over remains of the young OCs in the NFL. So many have gotten jobs recently I wonder if there are any great ones left. Ben Johnson probably is a great one and maybe Slowik, but if they can't get those guys I wouldn't mind a defensive HC that hires some hot shot passing game coordinator from the McVay or Shanahan tree.

My rationale for going offensive minded is we have some capable QBs in the fold and I want a coach who can get the most out of them. I mean, look at the coaches who have been super successful over the years with QBs, Belichick/Brady, Reid/Mahomes, Payton/Brees and others. The thing that is clear with all of them is the HC and QB have a unique relationship and I'd like to see one come in who can really mesh well with Rattler.

That said, Rattler is still a project and has a lot of growing to do. We need a leader who can be a steady hand and push the team to be their best.

No doubt that's a good rationale for going with an offensive guy. I'm just saying if you can't get Ben Johnson or maybe Slowik, if there is a defensive guy better than the remaining offensive guys, I'm good with going for a defensive head coach who brings in a young OC.

And I would be remiss if I didn't note that Belichick was a defensive head coach who developed Brady.

Agreed. I think we both agree that ww want the best HC regardless of he's offensive or defensive minded. If we go defensive coach, we need one who can build a close relationship with the QB. Belichick was probably more the exception than the rule, but a HC like him who can build that kind of rapport with the QB would be great.

I will say though that a Brady is a rare bird who could lead and work with a defensive coach. That's hard to do for most QBs.

I'm new to this site and these forums so forgive me if this is an old topic but seems to me that the past 3 years of DA coaching and Gayle Benson ownership has basically made the Saints irrelevant on the national stage. If any other team would have turned in the performance we saw yesterday and the regression we have seen over the course of the season, all of the talking heads would have been debating when the HC was going to get fired and who his replacement could be. But with the Saints...crickets.

It's because this is what everyone expected to happen after the surprise of the first 2 games wore off. Everyone knows what DA is...what his record says he is. No one outside of New Orleans expects DA to be held accountable and that is a sad thing. I have nothing against Mrs Benson and I'm sure she loves New Orleans, but who is going to hold ML accountable and say this us unacceptable?

I’ve been pretty consistent in my thoughts with him. But I don’t want to continue to be negative. So I highlight the positives. Top 5 coach. Consistency in player discipline on field. Being one win away from perfect on 1 score games (1-9) A consistent top notch coach. A shall I say “commitment to excellence “
