Fix Netflix (3 Viewers)

another price hike

Netflix announced that starting today, users on its $9.99 per month Basic plan will now have to pay $11.99, and those paying $19.99 per month for Premium will have to pay $22.99. Netflix’s $6.99 ad-supported plan and $15.49 Standard tier will stay the same price.

Yea it’s not worth that. I haven’t had an email from them yet, but once they tell me it’s going up, I’m dropping to the 6.99 plan and will just upgrade for a month if there’s a show I want to watch.

This is exactly what they want you to do. Netflix makes more money from ad revenue in its lowest tier than it does if you as a subscriber pay an extra $5 to skip the ads. Im sure a lot of other people will be joining you.

I quit NF a year ago. Except for a couple of shows, I don't really miss it much. I think I'll end up with just Prime, Disney and HBO Max since I expect those will continue adding content after the producers and actors get back to work.

Going to be dropping Netflix here soon. Right now I have Hulu Live, then Disney and I just got Peacock (Not that I wanted it, but 3 Purdue football and 8 Purdue basketball games are on it this year), but will drop Peacock after the basketball season is over.

They basically seem to be putting the price up £2 every 18 months or so. So, here, it's doubled in price from £8.99 in November 2017 to £17.99 now. Quite a hike.

I always thought the shift to streaming would eventually end up with a load of separate providers all increasing their prices until it ended up costing the same, or more, than satellite or cable TV packages, but it still sucks to get there.

I'd drop Netflix entirely and just sub for the odd month here and there if it wasn't for the kids. We might drop down to the £10.99 tier though, we don't often have more than two streams going at the same time, and I think we can live without 4K.

Yeah, forgot about Peacock. I use it to watch WWE PLEs and other occasional shows. If the WWE takes their PLEs elsewhere, will drop it.

Once I get the email I’m cancelling as well. Just not worth $25 a month to watch dated movies. Their documentaries are lacking and I don’t care about series that turn into soap operas.

Seems about right

The Standard plan with ads is inching up from $7 to $8 a month, while the ad-free version of Standard will rise from $15 to $18 a month. The monthly rates for Premium, which offers 4K Ultra HD and HDR, will increase from $23 to $25. Adding an extra member from outside your household to a streaming plan is also getting more expensive, changing from $8 a month to $9 a month.

and this is right after saying how they just got like 15 million new subscribers

we finally signed up for Netflix (mostly so my girlfriend could continue watching RAW - she's a huge and lifelong WWE fan)

We did the basic plan - and they only show like one 30 second commercial every 15-20 minutes or so, much better than I was expecting

The addition of RAW is likely why they think they can raise the rates. I'll never understand it, but it's a big IP and now you have to have Netflix to see it.

I personally struggle finding things to watch on Netflix. Most of their own series are bad and most of what I watch on there is old shows that I never got around to watching that end up on Netflix.

But, I have to keep it because I can't get my wife to stop watching their terrible Korean romance shows. And my wife and daughter watch some anime on Netflix.

I haven’t done a hard study, but from what I’ve seen Hulu has better anime than Netflix
