For anyone who says Carr is just a stat padder and don’t win: (1 Viewer)

You're using excuses to cover up a decade of facts. Carr is a sub par quarterback his record proves it.
LOL again , another person that thinks that the QB is solely responsible for the W/L record of a team It boggles the mind how people can be SO wrong on this. Again I'll explain it for you. A QB does not play DEFENSE. If an offense has a 60/40 pass-run split that means that the QB is handing off the ball 40% of the time. But YOU think that it the QB that is responsible for winning or losing the game. SMH SMH SMH

Carr is a top 18 QB that shows glimpes of top 10 QB moments when everything is perfect around him, and glimpes of bottom 25 QB play when things are not. Problem is, it's the NFL and more often than not, everything isn't going to be great so you're stuck w/ a QB who more often than not gives you top 20 QB play.
I don't think everything has to be perfect around DC for him to be a top 10 QB. He does like any other QB need a good offense and defense around him. Which is why I'm in favor of building a good supporting cast around him that way when we find his successor is found we'll be good to go

You're Right. Derek Carr as the QB had nothing to do with any of his losses. Got it. It's a shame he's really good at everything but winning.

There is no way if Derek Carr had went to the Falcons or Panthers and went 14-13 as a starter that people would be singing the Derek Carr just needs more help song. Nobody on this board was a Carr apologist when he was with the Raiders. Any player in the NFL can look better than what he is if you nitpick enough.

Bottom line is that this team is so far off from being a contender that we do not have the ability to stack the team or attract a top head coach while Carr will be here and able to play at the level he is now.

He is neither the problem or the solution and he is so much better than our alternatives that we will just win pointless games and go no where significant with him that will hinder us from getting what we need.

And it's one of the reasons I'd like to keep Kubiak if possible. His system is perfect for DC. Plus learning 3 different systems in 3 yrs is counterproductive. Our OL is better built for a wide zone scheme. We have AK for 2 more yrs it's a better scheme for him and Miller when he's healthy
I agree that it's likely counterproductive to bring in a third system. That said, the next HC could always bring in another guy from the Shanahan/McVay tree to keep the verbiage and core concepts similar.

Interesting enough, we finished 14th on rushing DVOA this year after finishing 11th in 2023. Injuries certainly played a role, but I doubt many would expect us to have finished that high last year.

….which I hear a lot. This is now 0-6 without him, 12.5, 195, and -6. You’re telling me there isn’t a huge difference between being .500+ instead of 0’fer? Yeah, he’s not DB9, but who is? Thats never gonna happen again.
I'm confused is this a good post or bad post.

They more than played a role for most of the yr half of our OL was out and we had a rookie @ LT and a guy that finally got some good coaching and was healthy for the 1st time @ RT. Should we have had better backups? Yes but that was a drafting issue and Ram knee issue more than anything else. Do you really think those rushing rankings would have been the same had we been even a little bit more healthy on the OL?

We saw what a Kubiak offense could look like with the just average talent ( other than AK) in the 1st 2 games. Let's say we get Glenn and he keeps the offensive staff and we get an X WR and maybe a TE like Fanning in the draft. And maybe we upgrade the LG position in FA . And maybe Miller stays healthy. What do you think our offense will be like next yr? I'd take bets we win the south. Especially if we get some DL help as well.

All while we are cleaning up the cap some

Only made the play offs once. What a sad career. What's the common denominator on all the poor teams Carr has played on? Derek Carr.
That is just a coincidence. Derek Carr is really amazing and none of those losses are his fault. It's his defense that let's him down, or the fact that 40 percent of the time he has to hand the ball off. Thats what Dsnfla or whatever said. So don't you dare blame Derek Carr for his poor record!

The guy was clearly just demonstrating that football is a team game and you’d be lying if you were to say Carr has had good teams around him.

Stop acting so obtuse and unreasonable just for the sake of not looking bad in a debate. Also stop putting words into his mouth and strawmanning the argument into something it wasn’t.

He’s a non-superstar, upper mid QB that needs help around him to succeed, which is the case for all QBs of his level.

Carr has played most of his career for a dysfunctional Raiders organization, and the past two years for an injury riddled team being coach by friggin DA.

I can do what I want. If people want to continue to not give Carr any criticism for his poor play, and make excuses thats on them and you. I'm tired of the excuses. He needs to be held accountable like everyone else. Carr is an inconsistent mid level quarterback that will never lead his team to the playoffs or championship.

That’s fair enough, but there’s plenty enough data available for you to do that with rather than to create childish strawman versions of the man’s words to support your case.

Again, I can do what I want. He's an adult, he will be fine.
