For anyone who says Carr is just a stat padder and don’t win: (18 Viewers)

I’m a big confirmation bias guy, probably can tell by my posts lately lol. But I would say this, if we are talking short sighted, then we are talking all of these injuries etc. but if we look long term, Carr has been what he has been his entire career it’s about the same no matter what. To me that’s confirming my bias that has average at best. You can’t possibly be saying for 11 years it’s been everyone elses
Fault but his.

I think Derek Carr’s career has been an enigma. The consistently poor quality of the teams he’s played on have been an enigma. He has played on a lot of bad teams and for bad coaches.

One of the only times in his career when he had solid help surrounding him and healthy, he finished third in MVP voting.

He’s had a strange career arc with unprecedented levels of ineptness surrounding him.

The mere fact that those Raiders teams couldn’t take a “fairly competent”/“decent at worst in his prime” QB like him to the playoffs more than once over such a long period of time points more towards organizational ineptness than a QB problem, JMO.

Just take a look at the Raiders defensive rankings during his time there, for starters.

He has played with Denzel Perryman, Latavius Murray, Darren Waller, Devante Adam’s, Hunter renfroe, Amari Cooper, Gabe Jackson, Michael Crabtree, Khalil Mack, and a few pro bowl offensive lineman. I never buy into the no talent or bad team arguments. You are the QB. You touch the ball on offense every play.

Right, it just isn’t here in New Orleans that dude had Devante Adam’s, Josh Jacobs Hunter Renfroe

You mean in his very last year with one of the most incompetent, QB unfriendly HCs this millennia while boasting a defense that finished ranked 26th? 😂

Well, I know this much! He has lost to 31 teams, and only made the playoffs once. He lost first round. If he was good. They Raiders wouldn’t have got rid of him

You start as long as he has for bad teams, of course you will eventually run the table in Ls.

Teams move on from players for many different reasons, including having an incompetent HC that figured he could convince one of “his guys” to come in and be the starter.

Well you seem to love the guy, the same way Dennis Allen did. He got fired twice when Carr was his QB. That is where we disagree. I have watch him for 11 years. I know what he is. You’re not making the playoffs with him. Save the cap money, plan for the future. If he is a Saint I am going to root for him. I just know what I am going to get. A middle of the road over thirty year old QB. I would rather a young, cheap QB with potential.

I don’t “love him.” I am just willing to live with him as our transitional QB. I think he’s solid and someone you can win with if you surround him with a good enough environment.

I recognize that what we had with Drew Brees very possibly will never walk through those doors again in my lifetime, and at least in my own opinion, think I recognize what solid/above average QB play looks like compared to all of his league counterparts.

I like the player and think we can live with him while at the same time we should be looking for upgrades for the not-so-distant future.

Well, Mickey Loomis defended him in the press conference. He may be the transitional QB. My God, 70 million dollars for 2 years when we are 50 million over the cap now. I know we are not building a legitimate future until about 3 years from now.We do not have a pro bowler on this team. Taliese Fuaga is a bright spot! Paulson Adebo. We cannot afford him. So he is probably gone.

Nobody is wondering, he is a 500 quarterback. He has been here two years. He has been hurt. We can lose games with Rattler just as well as with Carr. Especially when they have paid carr to sit the bench! I would rather restructure the Defensive players, and Erik McCoy!

You don’t like him, we get it.

I won't really comment on Carr per se... but
I see plenty of he can't "put the team on his shoulders" & win. What % of the time does a QB have to do that to be considered "good"?

We had the best QB in the NFL & he had a losing season 1 out of every 3. He only "put the team on his shoulders" for a .660 winning record. That was w/a consistently great coach, front office, fanbase, stadium & O weapons, sadly w/an often historically bad D! Top 10 in 4thQ comebacks & #1 in comebacks lost due to D.
Imagine if he played for one of the worst owner/front office, clown car run of coaches/OC, screwed over fanbase, a field that oozed groundwater(or worse) & succession of avg-good weapons(w/gems occasionally) & that same level of D? Top 15 4thQ comebacks & almost as pathetic a rate of D failure.

This isn't a comparison of talent or career, nor any excuse. Just putting 2 situations out there, to show that luck & situation plays a big part in career success, fanbase love & reputation.

I don’t like him as a player. He is about the 20 th best Qb in the league. When we signed him. I liked it. That team Had Kamara, Ram, Mike Thomas, a younger Cam, Demario, Granderson, and many others. The Saints front office has failed at drafting. They let great free agents walk out the door. This is a whole rebuild. If we had 6-9 pro bowlers. Let’s try it. Especially in this terrible division. We don’t have any. We don’t have depth. If you think the Salary cap is bad this year. What if we restructure him?
He wants out of here. If he gets cut. He will make $25 from the Saints. Nobody is paying this dude 15 million next year. He could have taken a pay cut. I don’t blame him for it. This is where we are as a franchise. This guy thinks he is going to make 40 million dollars this year off of 2 years of injury plagued, throwing fits football. I am so done with this dude!
